CODE 37 TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT. I WOULD DO ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE.BECAUSE THE LUCAS OIL COULD BE TOO THICK FOR TRANSMISSION. CAUSING HARD SHIFTING.CHANGE FLUID AGAIN SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

the reason i put the lucas in was because it was shifting hard and it slipped a few times, and now it still shifts hard but hasnt slipped anymore yet.

CODE 37 TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT. PROBLEM IN THE TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER.TAKE CAR TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP.LET THEM CHECK IT OUT.BAD TORQUE CONVERTER OR A BAD CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID WILL CAUSE CAR TO SHIFT VERY HARD.

take it to transmission shop first? otherwise I was gana take it auto select and have them do a diagnostic troubleshooting. is it ok to drive? people keep messing with me,cuz im a single mom of twins. I need somewhere to go where they aint gana charge me arm and leg. so tranny shop first?

  • Jonah Oneal Apr 12, 2011

you can drive to a shop, dont drive too far away. have your car been tuned up, when did you do your last tune up.because if car engine not well tune up will also cause hard shifting problems. take car to a transmission shop, let them check it out.dont take to a dealership going to cost you.you can drive car. its going to shift hard.there is a reason it shifting hard. i know money tight. but get it fix soon as possible.keep driving car for long time with out fixing will cause more transmission damage.do cheap thing first if spark plugs and wires over 100000 miles old they need changing.clean fuel injectors, change air filter, change fuel filter.i would do a tune up first to make sure engine is well tune before replacing transmission parts. if tune up fails.wait next pay day have transmission checked out.just dont drive car too much.this will keep you paying out too much money at one time.

well it ended up being the park/neutral switch, guess it was telling the car it was in park while I was driving which made it shift hard. plus cam shaft sensor and seal( if that has anything to do with it)

camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor controls fuel injection timing and ignition spark timing. if camshaft sensor faulty you will have shifting problems if fuel injectors dont fire right.any thing effects engine performance will also effect transmission performance.

What causes 1996 Dodge Neon SOHC automatic transmission to delay or slip shifts?

that is a hum dinger, largest ever posted, in one shot.
very good.!
one word , the transmission slips. (never drive a slipping tranny)
overheat indicator.! that is key.
many newer cars will change the transmission shifting any time
the engine over heats.
and overheat wins over transmission , every time.
if the engine burns up, what good is any transmission.? nada.

solve overheat first.

slip or flare.
is when the engine RPM rises fast and the car dont go faster.
SLIPS.
and slipping burns up trannyclutchs and increases the damage. inside the transmission, dont do that. dont allow it,
park it and fix it.

on some tranny there is a temperature sensor that the TCM
watches and changes shift patterns based on AFT fluid temps.
and if the ATF fluid gets too hot , it takes actions. to keep the tranny from harm.

why not get a scan too and see what DTC errors there are..
DTC, engine overheate.
DTC< tranny overheat (caused by above)

Yeah you might need a new tranny. Not even replacing the fluids or changing the filter will help bc it would make it even worse by flushing away metal parts in your gears which would eventually cause slippage then failure.

Transmission

You probably need to have linkages at transmission lubricated. There is one that controls throttle valve which tends to seize up on a regular basis. When it starts to seize, you will notice it staying in lower gear longer before it shifts up, and sometimes it will shift down hard when slowing down to stop.
