first, next time it acts up try starting it in netural if it starts ok then replace the netural safety switch, the system is pretty basic, if you send me your e-mail i willl send you a wiring diagram of the system. most common thing is the starter but if it tested ok and by the way if the starter does not act up wile testing it will pass the test so that does not mean that it is not the starter, next time it acts up check for power at the purpal wire on the starter if there is 12 volt at that wire replace the starter, if no power the supect starter relay or netural safety switch. but send me the e-mail and i will get you the wiring diagram.

Toyota Prado 97 (petrol). Can jump start but has loss of power when put in gear or lights, whipers or anything else turned on. Battery indicator says ok.

It sounds like you might have a bad alternator. You can't always trust you gauges. Jump it off again and check the voltage at the battery. You should have 14 volts. If it is less then that you have a bad alternator. Good luck.

Can the pcm cause the starter not to turn in my 2000 dodge neon?

Is it getting fuel? Check the pressure regulator or the fuel pump. Even if you have the plug wires on wrong it should do something.

3.3 engine won't turn over to start sometimes-Have replaced battery and electrical ignition switch

If vehicle is Automatic check the Neuteral position on gear selector . Rock selector (slightly) but be carefull ! No crank can be Starter or dud connection . This is a simple circuit ie battery> key sw > neuteral sw > (sometimes aux solenoid) > starter solenoid/motor.

Car wont start. tried to jump but engine will not

Hi,
There may be another possibility... there are safety switches which would also prevent a switch actuating a starter. If the vehicle is not fully registered in park or neutral, the switch will not allow the starter to work.
Check this first.
If this isn't the case, have the starter pulled and get Autozone to check it for you.
I don't think the alternator's a factor here.
I hope this helps... Good luck.

94 z wont start

You will have to check, at the starter, for power to the SMALL wire on the starter solenoid (which is on the starter) when turning the ignition switch to start.
If there is power to this wire ( usually purple ) and power at the LARGE cable ( from the battery ) at the starter end.....you need a starter.

If you do not have power at the small wire at the solenoid with the key in start position and battery power is OK.....check the safety neutral switch.Moving the shifter around a little can sometimes allow the car to start if the neutral switch is worn.

A new battery does not always mean a fully charged battery.
Try a boost from another car before testing the starter for power.

The battery cables need to be clean and tight....and check the ground to the engine as well.

Everything else may work OK with bad connections, they don't use the power the starter needs to turn the engine over.
