Question about Saturn L300

2 Answers

I am a used car dealer, i traded for a 2001, L300 saturn with a v6. While on a test drive, the customer stopped for a soda and the car would not start again. We are 100 miles from a Saturn authorized chevy repair facility. A local certified mechanic has looked at this car, he felt the ecm was bad, I bought a used one from another 2001 V6 Saturn, this did not make it run. He is convinced that it does not need a bcm. One thing that is puzzling, with the key on we do not seem to get a full response from the instrument cluster, no gas gauge, etc. The pass key(alarm system) seems to be working Thanks Cecil 712.263.9800

we have checked all the fuses, they appear to be good. I do not agree with the ignition switch fix. Yes it runs for a second or two and then dies. It will start everytime you try
but then it dies. I tend to think that something is shutting down the fuel supply and the injection system. Thanks

Get the fuel pump relay checked. The relay in engine compartment fuse box under hood. The fuel pump relay is controlled by ecm. May be the new ecm is not controlling the fuel pump relay. The relay ground is connected to ecm.If the ecm is not functioning properly and not controlling relay, then it will not let the fuel pump to start.Either replace the relay and confirm r by pass the relay and check. If the fuel pump works by the by pass of relay, then its faulty relay. If still no fuel pump working then its faulty ecm.' ---------- It has to be rechecked and replace.Check out.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hi, this sounds more like an ignition switch or fuse issue. Why did he think it was the ECM? Is the engine light on, and if so, what is the trouble code? BCM can affect the gages but usually will not impact engine operation. What does it do when you try to start it? I assume it turns over but does not start, right?

well, you didn't mention it was starting and then shutting down. That would more likely be a passlock issue.

Powertrain Control Module/Cooling Fan Control Module/Automatic Transaxle

The wiring or one of these listed above has a short . Disconnect the cooling fan control module and see if the problem goes away , if it does you need a new cooling fan control module . Do you know where it is ?

Obd test says multiple misfires for my saturn l300 2001.. erg and flex pipe underneath just replaced...drove good for one day...still drives good its when I stop at lights it vibrates...? Maybe fuel pump...

Sounds like its not firing on all cylinders. Try getting plugs replaced or have somebody put a timing light on it to see the cylinders is firing correctly!

the car needs a body control module. if you try to replace it yourself the car will not run, it needs to be programed by the dealer.
