How do we install the 02 sensors in the 1999 kia sportage?

when you find the O2 sensor that you are replacing disconnect the electrical plug then using a 7/8" wrench placed around the sensor base turn the sensor counter clockwise looking at it from the top of the sensor. sometimes you have to heat the exhaust pipe around the sensor were it threads in this will help loosen the sensor. keep in mind that sometimes the threads are pulled out/stripped and you will have to run a cleaning tap to clean the threads and you install the sensor in the same place.

Knock sensor is an indication you are having a mis-fire with your spark plugs if one fires and another misses causes the engine to knock 3 possible issues.

Spark plugs

Older vehicle may need gas treatment

Worst case valve or cylinder seal issue
Try the first issues dont change knock sensor it maybe doing its job

The last solution you shouldnt need to do unless you are getting black smoke from exhaust or engine is knocking realy bad

I have a 1999 Kia Sportage and can not get a repair manual. The motor is knocking bad but it is full of oil. ??????? Email address:

A knocking motor is not a good thing, Because that could be a loose piston rod or a play in the crankshaft and i the advice is do not run your engine until you get somebody to locate the knocking,If not then you engine will get ruined. and the repair manual will not help you locate the knocking. also the engine has to have enough oil not low not full.
Good luck bro
