Advance Auto will read your codes for free and give you a print out of codes. This will save you $100 and a lot of guess work. I know MAF, MAP and PCM sensors are common problems on these.

How to install a block heater into 2007 Chev Cobalt LS?

I`m surprised this didn`t come from the factory with a block heater already installed. if so look for an electrical plug like would be for a house hold lamp, somewhere in the area of the battery. if it didn`t come with one when you buy a block heater the instruction tell you were it is to be installed on the engine and position of element.

No, there is no reason to replace anything other than the spark plugs and possibly the wires when doing a basic tune up.

sounds about right, probably is ignition switch, reason you don't get codes is because if power is'nt connecting to engine while problems occurs then ecm won't pick it up. you should have 2 ignition switches, (the lock cylinder and key switch, the other is the electrical, usually located under the dash, and commonly atttatched to the column close to the firewall, check connections first, it may just be a loose plug in connection

Spark plug locations

If the car is missfireing, don't try to patch it one plug at a time. go ahead and replace them all at once. It will save you 5 more cylenders to hunt later.
