SOURCE: My 99 Jeep Wrangler failed

DTC P0650 represents an issue with the actual check engine light (malfunction indicator lamp). Ignition voltage is supplied directly to the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). The powertrain control module (PCM) controls the lamp by grounding the control circuit via an internal switch called a driver. The primary function of the driver is to supply the ground for the component being controlled. The driver has a fault line which is monitored by the PCM. When the PCM is commanding a component ON, the voltage of the control circuit should be low, near 0 volts. When the PCM is commanding the component control circuit OFF, the voltage potential of the circuit should be high, near battery voltage. If the fault detection circuit senses a voltage other than what is expected, the fault line status will change causing the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to set.

A DTC P0650 indicates a problem with the circuit to the actual check engine light itself. If the fault is current, check if the check engine (service engine soon) lamp comes on when you turn the ignition on, If not, we will need to pull the engine control computer and ground the wire that goes to the light. If the light comes on, it is a failed pcm which must be replaced and reprogrammed. If not, it is either the circuit to the cluster or the cluster itself.

Good luck.

Have a ford explorer sport trac and rear brake lights don't come on I replaced the bulbs and checked all fuses all good could it be the brake switch if the third brake in the center comes on ?

There is a short in the steering column. Put the tilt steering all the way up. You may even have to push it up. This will close the short. Open the cover and you will see the wire has become loose in the harness.

Turn signal dosent work

you need to check to see which bulbs don`t work both front and back lights for the signal on the side it`s not working, you don`t say if any signals work or not if no signals work then you need to check the fuses under the dash on the driver`s if it`s just one side then check the lights as mentioned above.if one isn`t then replace the bulb.if neither bulb is working then it sounds like the signal flasher is not working.turn on the hazard flashers and check the lights front and back.if all bulbs work then leave the hazards on and look under the dash for the flasher that is making the noise, this will show what the signal flasher will look like, then find the signal flasher on the fuse panel under the dash it should be located on the fuse panel.and replace

I recently bought a 1998 Chevy Blazer 4dr. The dash lights (speedo, gas gauge etc) never worked, and recently the cigarette lighter went out to. Just after the cigarette lighter conked out I found one of...

Hi, that fuse did not come with your car. It may go to your radio, if someone installed an aftermarket radio in the truck.
Your fuses are laid out in the owner's manual, which you can download here if you don't have one:

Fuses start on page 6-60. The lighter fuse is #2 in the box at the end of the dash board. The instrument lights are powered by fuse #5, but that would be for all of the lights. If only the 2 gage lights are out, you probably need to replace the bulbs. I have pasted instructions for removing the instrument cluster below. Note that you may be able to replace bulbs without disconnecting everything and removing the cluster. It just depends on how much slack is in the cables, so try pulling the cluster out a bit with wires still attached to see if you can do it. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. If your vehicle is equipped with a tilt steering wheel, move the wheel to the lowest position. If the vehicle does not have a tilt wheel, it may be necessary to lower the column.
  3. Unfasten the eight clips that retain the instrument cluster bezel and remove the bezel. There are four clips on the top of the cluster bezel and four clips on the bottom of the cluster bezel.
  4. Unplug the electrical connections from the headlamp switch, dimmer control and any other accessory switches that would interfere cluster removal.
  5. Unfasten the four cluster retaining screws and remove the cluster making sure nothing contacts the circuit connections.
  6. If replacing the bulbs, turn the bulb assembly 1 / 2 turn to the left to remove.

To install:
  1. Install the bulb assembly.
  2. Place the cluster into position without touching the connector pins. Install and tighten the cluster retainers.
  3. Attach the headlamp switch, dimmer control and any other accessory switches.
  4. Install the cluster bezel.
  5. return the steering wheel or column to its original position.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Fix lights in steering wheel - 04 DeVille

Steering wheel lights do not have bulbs you can change. The switch is a sealed asembly with an integral light. Each one costs around $110 at the dealership.

Heated seats have wires inside a fabric cover located betwwen the outside seat skin and the inner foam. Over time, they burn out. You can buy replacements from the dealer and have either them or an upholstery shop install them.

i don't know if it is the time of year (lots of condensation) or it's just happens alot but my mantra appears to have become check the relays. I suspect the brake light relay would be in the engine compartment fuse panel but on yours it may be in the fuse panel under your dash or in the glove compartment.... car companys seem to like hiding them.
