Need to replace the starter on a 1997 dodge grand caravan

to remove the starter from motor you need to disconnect the battery negative wire from the battery. then remove the battery wire and start wire from solenoid. remove the bolts holding the starter to the transmission bellhousing. then remove starter. installation is the reverse of removal.

Where is the starter located on a 2001 Dodge Stratus? Any diagrams?

V6 It's located in the front of the car next to the oil filter. You will need to remove the oil filter to get it out. Disconnect battery first the the wiring for the starter. There are 2 bolts holding the starter in place. Simply remove the bolts and slide it out. Replace it the same order you removed it. Once you get working on it it's easy.

4 cyl with five speed manual transmission, the starter is located in front. Disconnect the negative battery terrminal from the post on the driver's side. Remove the air filter duct/air filter cover as a unit by loosening the hose clamp. it may be different on your particular model. With the air intake ducts and resonator out of the way the job will be much easier. Remove the air resonator by loosening the hose clamp under the resonator on the air intake body. Disconnect the two large wires from the starter and pull the one solenoid wire away. Two bolts hold the starter assembly on. The one on top threads from the driver's side towards the passenger side and the one on the bottom threads the other direction. The starter/solenoid come out from the front as a unit. Since it's a standard transmission there is no need to jack up the vehicle.
To install. reverse the procedure making sure to tighten the mount bolts to standard, connect the wires, and then the last step is to replace the negative wire to its mounting post.

Hope that helps

Can'tfind a starter for a dodge stratus 1997

If it is the Dodge Stratus 1997 with the 2.4L SFI DOHC 4 cylinder engine, then Autozone has the starter for $127.99 with a $62.00 core charge. I just checked and it is shown as available, so they should be able to get it for you. Hope this helped and best wishes.

1997 Dodge stratus alternator

Hope this helps. I just changed mine (98 Stratus) and you have to remove the plastic radiator overflow reservoir. there is a nut on the shock tower and one on the fender well almost hidden by the windshield fluid reservoir. the alternator slides out to the left and up through where the radiator reservoir was. If you have A/C , you have to pull up on those A/C lines a LITTLE bit.

Visual on how to (altanator)

I just gave somebody the written answer to this same question. i do not know about the visual. But if you know what the alternator looks like , you can fix it.
  • Disconnect and label the wiring harness connections to the alternator (Painters Masking tape works very well for labeling Automotive wiring).Label the wires with a marker so you will place them back exactly as you took them off.
  • Loosen the alternator pivot bolt.
  • Remove the bolt that attaches the alternator to the adjustment arm.
  • Rotate the alternator to loosen the drive belt and disengage the belt from the pulley. Be careful that any spacers that are used in mounting are kept with their original bolts. This will make correct reinstallation much easier.
  • While supporting the alternator remove the pivot bolt.
  • Remove the alternator from the vehicle.
To reinstall the alternator, reverse the removal procedure.
To adjust the belt tension, leave the pivot and adjusting arms loose. tighten the belt to about a half inch pressing with your finger.

Replace a catalytic converter for a 1999 dodge stratus

The cat is located just off of the exhaust manifold. You have to remove things to get out of the way. Loosen down pipe to converter and unclamp the converter and it should pull right out. Use a good penetrating oil to help loosen the down pipe bolts.
