I just got a Insignia cd/stereo/MP3 car radio and I really need an installation manual. Lots of wires, colors, don't know what they power. Where can I get the manual? It's going in my 01 Dodge Ram

Greg,

Do yourself a HUGE favor. Drop $8 on a radio wiring harness connector. You wire it to the aftermarket radio while sitting at your kitchen table. When done, yank the factory radio and simply PLUG IN the new radio directly into the truck's wiring harness. Done! No cutting of your truck's wires, splicing, taping or hanging upside-down making connections. Plus, when it's time to sell the truck - you can pull out your radio and dump the factory radio back in the truck in no time.

You can find these at other stores locally too. Good luck!

The wires are a different color on the new speed sensor conector

i guess you dont know that only the main harness colors are standard (jeep) Jeep does no dictate sensor wires.
if the sensor has pig tail wire they are not standard colors. (only pinout matters)
just like the oxygen senors made by all companies.

the sensors are made by many a company and the colors are not standard. only the pin plug are standard.!!! a fact.
see?
why not just plug it in, like it was day one.
my guess, is you dont know the fact above and are worried only?
or is the connector harness all hacked to H3LL. (not stated)

P2271 Engine code on again. Truck has been in several times for same reason. Is this a ongoing problem?

google: 2011 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 P2271 Engine code

some mention of diesel. and O2 sensors. See if you can find others with your problem. Several times? Sounds like they owe you some more information. I'd get in touch with Dodge customer service!

- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection

- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks Tech notes Replacing the rear O2 Sensor bank 1 usually takes care of the problem.

Hey guys im pulling a p0138. i have a 99 jeep cherokee limited i checked the 15 amp fuses and replaced the upstream and downstream o2 sensors and it still keeps popping up. The check engine light is still...

Harness or connectors (The sensor circuit is open or shorted). Rear heated oxygen sensor (Bank 1) may be faulty. The rear heated oxygen sensor (or sensor 2), after three way catalyst (manifold), monitors the oxygen level in the exhaust gas on each bank. Check your connections and make sure the right sensor is in the right location.

Im putting n a stereo but i dont no the color code

The stereo side of the wires should be labeled. Check out the12volt.com for a wiring schematic for the truck side. I advise against cutting and splicing wires for a stereo installation though. They make inexpensive harness adapters that will allow you to splice into the stereo harness without cutting into the factory wiring.

Trying to splice wiring harness for trailer lights

there is no need to splice wires especially on a 02, you can get a trailer harness at any autoparts store that will connect into your original harness. Dont get me wrong you can splice into it but do you really want to ??

I replaced the bed of my 94 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup. When I put the new bed on I didn't realzie it was setting on the brake light wires, and now due to friction, the brake wiring has sereved in two! Anyone...

It's the rear wiring harness, and more specifically, the taillight harness.
Are there any wires left? Could you splice in new wires using solder on the connections, and heat shrink tubing? (Plus wiring wrap)

Wire the new one up, and where to get it?

Instead of buying a manual that may not be detailed enough, (Chiltons, and so on. You need a Shop Manual), I suggest you go down to your nearest Dodge dealer> Parts Department, and see if the Ol' Boys will copy off this part of the wiring diagram you need.
Shouldn't be but a few bucks.

They should have the wiring harness you need also.

OR,
you could buy the length of wires you need, match the color code of the insulation on the various wires, and the gauge of the wires, (Thickness of the wire), reuse the rubber connecting plugs, and other connectors, and wrap this wiring harness you made in electrical tape.

Naturally you won't reuse a melted rubber plug, (or Socket), and you'll have to buy any metal terminal ends you need.
That flexible plastic cover you see over the old wiring harness, is sold also. (Use electrical tape, and this flexible cover)

Wiring diagram? Here are the Wiring Schematics,
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairInfoLanding.jsp
You have to become a member. It's free. Go up to the top right, and click on -> Become A Member.

Now on the main page you started from, go to the left side, and click on -> Vehicle Repair Guides.
On the next page go up to the top left, and click on the blue -> Manage My Vehicles
Now go to the right, and click on -> Add A Vehicle, in the orange box.

This takes to several pages. First page you choose the Year. Second page you choose the
Make. Third page you choose the Model. (I chose RAM 1500 1/2 Ton 2WD) Fourth page you choose the Engine. (We're after the wiring schematics for the rear of the truck, so I just picked one)

NOW, (Finally, lol!), under the Select A Category heading, click on Vehicle Repair Guides.
Go to the right, and click on -> Chassis Electrical
Now under the Select A Chapter heading, go down to the bottom, and click on -> Wiring Diagrams.

Fig. 27 is the wiring diagram you want. I would also look at the first two diagrams to familiarize yourself with reading wiring schematics, unless you are already adept at this.

Would appreciate it if you would rate my solution.

At the shop we test the oxygen to determine which one is bad.
1. Disconnect the the negative of the battery cable.
2.Disconnect the wiring harness from the oxygen sensor.
3. Remove the oxygen sensor.
To install new oxygen sensor.
1. clean the thread on the mount.
2. install oxygen sensor.
3. connect wiring harness
4. connect battery cable.
