Question about 2000 Acura TL

1 Answer

2000 acura every now and then, car would idle rough when started, yesterday car wouldnt start at all. so i waited and tried again a few times, then i pumped the gas a little to get the rpms up and once i got on the highway it ran much better, but the check engine light came on but didnt flash. put on diagnostics they reset the codes and check engine light went out. what do you think?? they told me it could be the egr valve at the first place. the second place i took it to could not diagnose problem because it was running fine, but i know it will happen again. what are you thoughts???

I have a 2000 TL as well. Had a VERY similar situation. It wasn't a constant problem and ran fine between times just like you said! Frustrating!
It wound up being ONE coil that was starting to fail. www.acurazine.com is a wealth of info.
Bought one coil and held onto it until next time it ran bad, then went around the rows swapping out the old coil for the new one... one at a time, until it ran right. Then I knew I found the bad coil.
Don't know if this helps, but sure hope it does!

I have a 2003 acura cl s type 3.2, while driving it, the car would just shutoff, i try to start it again and it want start, then i wait a few minutes and it would start, what is the problem?

Do you get a "check engine" light? If so, have the code read. Sometimes you won't get the error the first time.
I had a similar problem with a different car, was the cam position sensor. After the 4th or 5th time, I did get a code and that told me exactly what to replace.

N80 start

You have to find the reason the check engine light is on. This will aid in diagnostics. Also, are you buying fuel at the same place both times?

I know some old fuel injected systems will dump fuel because of the coolant temp sensor should be located on lower intake in the front. Also check the timing.

2000 Acura TL misfire codes

My TL would do the same, crank, crank, crank, give it gas, crank, etc, then finally, after everyone was looking at me like i was crazy, it would eventually start.
I noticed that strangely enough during this time, I filled up w/ regular gas at the same Exxon 3 times n a row, instead of going to shell like i normally do. (I used regular from shell or chevron in mine for 8 years & never a problem) Oddly enough,it would drive ok, kinda rough, for a short time then, i would walk out a store & it wouldn't start. I would give it gas while I was crankn it sometimes even until a cylinder would misfire & make that pop. when it would finally idle, just barely enough for me to put it n drive, i would step on it to keep it going. I even rode around for a week with that scanner hooked up to my car & the only code that EVER came up was cylinder misfire & only if i had to get on it & make it misfire. I put that fuel injector in my gas tank every time i filled up for about a month after the exxon fill ups & went back to shell & put plus instead of regular. We checkd the fuel pump, fine, the fuel filter, doesnt have one.
I have been fortunate to not have it happen since then but, I did some research on it & found that it could also be that the valve that controls the emissions, it would sometimes get stuck & not open/close properly thereby causing the engine to not be able to receive or give off the correct amount of air flow & therefore it wouldnt turnover to start until i would force it by giving it gas or making it misfire, or waiting a while for it to cool off.
Also, check out ur air compressor & make sure its not starting to go out. turn off the ac & see if it still sounds like ****. if it sounds better when its off then the fact that its going out causes it to pull more on the engine in order to keep it going. This could be why its running rough, like feels like its having trouble shifting in 3rd & 4th gears.
Just some advice I found helpful when I had the issue, dont know if its the cause of ur issue but, i thought I would let u know.....
I hope this helps ..... good luck!

Rough running engine at temp

0340 is camshaft position sensor and the other 0325 is the knock sensor. Chances are you need to replace the sensors and good to go.
