Ignore the white wire .No need to connect the white wire.white wire is not going to be used at all so I can shrink wrap the end of the wire? The exhaust side plugs for emissions is a myth. Both plugs fire together to give two ignition sources which shortens the burn time and requires less ignition advance. Nissan's intent was that this set up will allow more EGR to be used to control emissions but luckily it also is good for mileage and efficiency.

The white wire? It's part of a system that can tell the distributor to revert back to single plug operation to reduce engine noise when passing or climbing a hill. A vacuum switch grounds the white wire and the distributor turns off the exhaust side plugs, but it also advances the timing to compensate for the longer burn time of a single plug. When power is reduced the switch opens and the distributor changes back to dual plug and retards the ignition.
---------------------

The Red (I) wire goes to the exhaust coil's negative terminal. The positive terminal goes to ignition switch power in the on position.

The Blue (E) wire goes to the intake coil's negative terminal. The positive terminal goes to ignition switch power in the on position.

The Black/White stripe wire goes to the ignition switch power in the on position.
-------- With power on the Black/White wire and engine turning over, will cause both the Red and the Blue wire to turn on and off to fire the coils. -------- There are three wires coming from the distributor: Red, Blue and Black/White.

In operation and the ignition key is on, power flows through the Black/White wire and into the distributor to power it.

At the same time power from the ignition flows to the positive terminal of both coils.

When the engine is turning, the module inside the distributor applies and removes ground on the red and blue wires that go to the negative coil terminals and they fire.---

The coils have 12 volts on them at all times the ignition is on. The distributor's job is to make and break a ground connection on the other side of the coil to complete the circuit. ------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

What would cause my 84 monte carlo 305 only fire on 4 cylinder

Bad pick up coil in distributor or worn shaft. The wires on the pick up coil should have 500 ohms to 1500 ohms resistance.
Move the wires and vacuum advance while testing, reading should not change. Then test resistance from one coil pick up wire to distributor housing this should be infinity.
Wiggle the shaft and see if there is any sideways movement.

What do i need to wire trailer lights to a 1985 nissan 720?

Get some 18 gauge wire, two colors, you can do it a couple of different ways. My preferred way is to pull the wire harness if it is a pick up truck. And using a digital multi meter. Or DMM. Figure out what wire goes to which function. And splice it in. Be sure to use connectors and not just twist them together. It sounds complicated but once you figure out what is what. It is actually perty easy. Good luck. My email addy is hmarinesgt at AOL dot com. If you need more help just let me know. I will be glad to assist you if I can

What's up Ogtajiboy,I have a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 2.4 engine with a Weber carb, had her since 1992 and it's mint. Here's a picture of your firing order, where are you at?Since your spark plug wires may have been crossed up,it may have ruined your plugs,I always use NGK spark plugs,on the intake side it uses,BPR6ES and the exhaust side uses BPR5ES.Advance Auto Parts has them. I get mine from Ebay, they are cheaper. The gap is.032.Need more help, let me know, here's a video of my Nissan.

I have a 1983 s 10 distributor with vacuum advance, there is a module in the distributor that has 4 prongs on it, 2 go to the coil pick up in the distributor but i dont know where the other 2 go. this...

Most of the time with a 4 pn module two pins on one end and two on the other.603349827.jpgThe one end plugs into the distbutor pickup and the other is the ground to the coil and the power wire to the coil. feeding though the cap harness. If the coil is in the cap or to the grond and power side of the stand alone coil. The model is marked with a plus where the power wire goes and a (-) where the coil negitive goes.

I need to hook up a boat trailor Whats the color code for a 1995

I suspect that the 4 wire harness includes a ground, so you may not be able to connect both brake lights and turn signals, which are separate lamps on the pickup. You may need to get an adapter.

In any case, the color codes on the pickup are:

Tail lights -- pink/blue
Brake Lights -- green/yellow
Left turn signal -- gray/blue
Right turn signal -- gray/red
Ground -- black
