On the compressor clutch there's a electrial conector, unclip this and make sure it's out of the way of the pulleys and belt, tie it back if you have to. This will disable the compressor.

There is usually only one wire leading to the AC clutch. Follow it to the first connection and disconnect it there, the insulate the loose ends and tie them out of the way. That may not solve your fuse problem as it could be a wire earthing further back in the circuit. If there is nothing else that operated off that fuse, and there seldom is, leave the fuse out. It should do no harm driving like that.

fuses blow because the current flow is in excess of the fuse rating and that is normally from a dead short in the circuit after the fuse
I suspect that the ac compressor rely is faulty and I would start looking in that area

I have a 2002 pt cruiser that is blowing the ac 10amp fuse repeatedly. I mean within minutes of changing it. Also the ac is only blowing hot air. Can someone please help.

An AC system blowing hot air is usually due to a low freon charge or a non operational AC compressor. If the fuse blows, disconnect the compressor electrical plug and turn on the AC. If the fuse doesn't blow, suspect a compressor problem. If the fuse continues to blow with the compressor disconnected, there is a direct short between the ON/OFF switch and the compressor which can take hours to diagnose

Why does the ac comp fuse onder hood keep blowing

Possible direct short in compressor clutch. Disconnect wiring harness from compressor and then turn AC on> If fuse doesn't blow, then problem is in compressor/clutch. Suspect it to be seized. If fuse blows while compressor disconnected then problem in wiring.

My 1999 Monte Carlo A/C fuse keeps blowing, why?

Is the a/c clutch blowing the fuse ?
Did the fuse blow with the compressor clutch disconnected ?
You will need a wiring diagram to find out what is in that circuit.

Ac fuse blowing, in 1996 isuzu rodeo

Disconnect wire to Air Conditioning Compressor and connect normal test light to wire, from engine harness(body)side. Fit new fuse and try air cond controls and switch, test light should light up and hopefully fuse wont blow indicating short in compressor clutch windings(replace compressor). If fuse blows while doing this test compressor might be ok and fault short some where else, fan speed resistor block, fan or control/switches, wiring.

the clutch on the air compressor coil is proably burnt out. disconnect electrical plug at end of air compressor and supply current direct from battery to see if clutch engages, if it does not, change thecoil clutch switch.

Electrical problem

When you are disconnecting the low pressure switch, or high pressure switch, you are stopping the power going to the A/C clutch. So, that means that your A/C clutch is shorted out. Unplug the compressor, and see if the fuse blows. If it doesn't you need a new clutch or compressor.
