Thanks, I think you've told me all I need. The Alpen TYP6 is a European charger rated at 6 amps distributed from Austria but made in China. I think your advise tells me that it is a sealed unit - new to me! And the advice from the Spanish salesman was to use a low 6 amp supply

    Thanks for your help

Hi, I'm having trouble finding any information on the Alpin TYP6 charger. Is it a 12 volt automotive charger? How many amps does it claim? Are there multiple settings for the charge rate?

Modern can batteries are sealed, so you no longer open them for charging. However, you have to limit the charge rate if you are going to leave the charger on very long. If the charge rate is low, such as less than 15 amps, you can leave it on overnight. This will normally fully charge a car battery. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

yes, a 6 amp charger is safe to use all night. It will take that long to charge a dead battery at that rate of charge. There is nothing you need to do except hook up the charger and turn it on.

You most likely will need dealer help on this, these older TPMS are not easy to calibrate, it requires a scanner. Next time you need to disconnect the battery use a small charger so the system remains powered up and you don't experience this kind of lost data problem

I have a Maserati dashboard message that I don't know what it means.

The vehicle computer can sense low voltage, so is warning the driver the care is about to fail. Replace the battery with a new one and you should be good to go. The computer will reset once the power is cut off during the battery switch, and reboots during the new battery power up.;

Car wont start

Check the fuel. Don't rely on your gauge, and if in doubt add some fuel just to make sure there is enough to start the car. Try to start the car and if it still doesn't start you know that fuel isn't the problem.

Make sure your car is in Park and the emergency brake is set.

Look closely at your dash board when you attempt to start the car. If your lighted panels don't come on or are very dim then it is likely that you are dealing with a dead battery. Either use a battery tester or simply hook the battery up to a charger or use jumper cables to hook up to another car battery in order to charge the battery enough to start the car. After you charge the battery if your car still won't start you may be dealing with a bad starter.
Call a mechanic to find out if there are any other possibilities before you purchase and replace the starter.

Hello. I do not use my rx330 frecuently,to keep my battery charged may l use a battery maintainer conected directly to the battery car or l have to keep conected to the battery without the car. How can l...

if your battery maintainer(charger)has the capability to charge from a higher charge to lower charge as the battery gets charged up and shut off when proper voltage is attained then you can leave the battery in the car as every time you disconnect it you have to reset everything in the car.some now can detect when to turn off and turn on as the car sits and voltage drops to low.don`t know which ones do and don`t someone may be able to answer that if they know about them.

My battery on my 2005 Boxter S is almost dead. Besides replacing it with a new one, would it be safe to jump start the battery with cables connected to my other car or should I trickle charge the battery?

It would be better for the battery to trickle charge it, although jumping it has been a fine and standard practice for cars as long as they have had batteries.

Fairly new battery in the 1998 Blazer, something is draining it because we keep having to jump it.

sounds like you may have a light or something that is on and draining the battery if you don't use it very much I would just put a power switch in it or a solar charger.

How can i charge the battery for the equinox 2007 , can i just do it regularly like with the cables and another car??

The cables are just for jump starting, you won`t be able to get a full charge that way.You will need to connect a battery charger to do it properly. If you don`t have a battery charger auto zone will charge it and test it for free if you remove it and take it to them.
