I would be willing to put money on the blower motor resistor and possibly the wiring harness. This is a common problem on Chrysler vehicles. It gets hot and melts the connectors. It is located on the passenger side under the dash next to the blower motor itself and is held in by two bolts and is a four wire connector. Turn the dial to any of the non functioning settings and wiggle th connector and it will probably start working, but it still needs to be replaced. Get the part from the dealer because it comes with a new connector that is wired in as well.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

HI this is great, I finally kinda know what has happened in my jeep as well...but can you put this into "Girl" term for me...do I pop the hood to get to this or can this be reached from teh passenger side inside? is the blower resistor all one piece? if I try to take it out and replace it, does anythign (besides teh jeep itself) need to be off, i won't get shocked will i? Hope i do not sound too silly, i can usually fix things myself if i get good direction...thank you!

Sounds like your heater/bower motor has an issue. Behind the glove box door is your heater motor, and mounted to it is a heater motor resistor. It will have a wire harness plugged into it. These go bad, and you will loose low speeds.

Yes next to the fan is a resistor is inserted in the same box as the fan hold by two screws remove the two screws and pull it out and replace for is burn is a very common problem but is not expensive at all it is a blower motor resistor it saves the harness from getting to hot

How do I fix heater fan to operate at low and medium speeds. It only works on High.

depending on car some have a fan relay or its your switch itself

1992 chevy C1500: Heat works on low speed, no medium, and high only works intermittantly.

On any other vehicle it sounds like the blower fan switch.
The fan switch provides power or ground to the resistor and there would be a high speed blower relay to bypass the resistor.
But in your case the fan switch is part of the controller.
I don't have a diagram for a 92 but the 94 model shows relays for low medium and high speeds. Each relay gets power from a fuseable link. The high relay gets power thru the low relay if the low relay is not engaged.
If you have the model with 3 relays you may need to check them.

Low and medium speed fan for ac does not come on, while high speed fan works. 2000 1500 dodge van, had new condensor unit under dash replaced recently.

Blower motor resistor needs replacing. Follow wires from blower motor to connector, which should be the resistor. Usually in duct work, held in by 2 small screws.

there are four settings on most blower motors. two of yours are prolly bad. replace the blower motor. if that dosnt do the job then it is more than likely an electrical issue and you will need to take it to a shop to have them diagnoss it.
