Hello,
Both are located behind the dash. You have to remove the dash to get to it. You might want to change the heater core while you are back there too. Some will tell you to pull a few bolts and wedge it open just enough to get back there and remove it. If you value how your cars dash looks I would advise against this. Good luck.

Regards, Tony

No heat cold air Mercury Sable 2001 3.0

Thermostat stuck open, low coolant level, stuck blend door or bad blend door actuator, or blogged heater core. Feel both hoses to the heater core. They should both be about the same temp. If one is hot and the other is cold, you have a clogged heater core. If both are hot, then the thermostat is working and you've got a blend air door/actuator problem. Actuator failure is pretty common on these. Remove the actuator and open the door by hand. If you get heat, replace the actuator

I hear a click click click then a pause then click click click again when I go to start my 2008 mercury sable the clicking starts when the accessories are activated right before the motor turns over it...

This noise is indeed coming from the dash and it is caused by a part called the air temperature control blend door actuator motor. The noise is a tiny electric gear drive that moves the door and controls air temperature jumping teeth due to a defective sticking blend door inside the air ducting. To replace these parts requires the dash be removed from the car, a 12-14 hour job.

The heat in my Mercury Sable isn't working. I turn the heat on and the blowers work but they only blow out cool air, it never heats up.

It could be 1 of 2 things
1st is the engine temp staying cold, if it is then it probably is your thermostat.
2nd and most likely it is the blend door actuator. you can check this by listening for a clicking sound somewhere in your dash when you try to change from cold to hot.
If it is your blend door actuator this will happen again because the blend door is warped, after you get it fixed try not going all the way to hot or all the way to cold so the blend door does not open to far.
Hope this helps, good luck.
