Maybe try checking to see if you have the rite relay in place. Sometimes they just need to be replaced or cleaned to be able to handle the load of current that surges thru when the compressor kicks on.

My air conditioning button stay lite all the time and the air doesnt work when the car is at and idle

if it stops working at idle or stop lights, the problem most likely is that the condenser is not getting cooling air from the ac fan in front of it
this results in a high head pressure and so the high pressure switch stops the ac compressor
take it to an accredited ac specialist shop for a proper diagnosis

I changed the ac compressor and dryer pumped it down and charged the system the compressor comes on for 3 seconds and cuts off. The clutch does not stay in gage. What could be the problem now?

Sounds like it's shutting off due to high pressures in the system. Do you have gauges to read the system pressures? One thing that would cause this is too much freon in the system, or too much oil. Did the compressor come with oil in it or did you add oil to the system? Too much oil and/or freon will give high pressures and the high pressure switch will shut the system off. Or the high pressure switch could be damaged, maybe even unplugged is a possibility. If it is plugged in you could try unplugging it and seeing if the compressor keeps running for longer than 3 seconds, if it does pressures might be too high. It could also be a bad relay getting hot and kicking off. Try switching relays and see what happens. Another possibility is the low pressure switch but not too likely in this case.

When the compressor shuts off, can you turn it by hand? If not, high pressures or even a bad compressor are possible.

Lot's of possibilities. Just have to wade through them. I'd start with the relay and then check the pressures.

Good luck.

Cooling fan will not turn on

The cooling fan is controlled by sensors in the cooling system so providing that you can move the fan blades easily and you have current getting to them I would be having a code reading to check for failing sensors. As to the a/c problem the compressor operation is controlled by 3 switches 1 switch is the heater fan must be on as well as the ac switch --2 is a switch that turns the compressor off if the head pressure is excessive and 3 is a low pressure switch that turns the compressor off if the pressure is too low (no gas). have a ac mechanic check out the system for leaks

Ac works but when compressor cycles, it wont come back on until i rev engine to 4500 to 5000 rpm's and compressor kicks back on until it cycles again. i have to repeat reving engine every time com

you need to check the pressure of the system if the system is a little low on freon it will cycle more also if the cooling fan is not working the pressure will raise and also shut off

Compressor and fans do not turn on until rev engine

I passed this question the first time I read it, so I will take a stab at it now.
The fans don't come on until the compressor has pumped the freon pressure up to say 150 or 200 psi. And the compressor clutch has to have voltage to engage the clutch.
I wonder if the clutch is going and needs 14 volts instead of 12 to engage ? Or the relay that powers the clutch ?
Speeding up the engine would increase voltage from the alternator.
This is assuming the serpentine belt is tight and everything else is working correctly.
I think I would swap the relay with another and put a meter on that circuit to the ac clutch to see what it takes to engage it.

2000 pontiac grand prix ac problem

If the compressor is working, a mechanic would check the low and high gauge pressure.
The freon has to flow thru the system to work, and the cooling fan draws air thru the condenser to get rid of the heat from inside the car.
If the ac clutch is working but the gauges show equal pressure, the compressor may be faulty.

HIGH PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH LOCATED ON AC COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE LINE LEADING TO THE CONDENSOR.THE HIGH PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH WILL CUT OFF THE AC COMPRESSOR IF SYSTEM PRESSURE RISES TO HIGH CAUSED BY RESTRICTION IN THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT OR OVERHEATED CONDENSOR.MAKE SURE COOLING FAN IS RUNNING WHEN THE AC SWITCH IS ON.THE COOLING FAN KEEP CONDENSOR COOL, IF COOLING FAN DONT RUN.YOUR AC WILL STOP BLOWING COLD AIR.HAVE THE REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHECK OUT.MAKE SURE YOUR LOW SIDE PRESSURE IS 10 - 37 PSI. THE HIGH SIDE PRESSURE SHOULD BE 112 - 210 PSI. CHECK THE AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH FUSE AND RELAY.

My ac compressor broke. I had a new compressor and expansion valve replaced. It cools a little on high but not enough. Any ideas on the problem?

You need to check the refrigerant pressures (high & low) and learned the reason for the cooling problem-the gauges are the only way you could ever know what is going one with the AC-low pressures (both sides), low refrigerant-high pressure, over charged and not allowing the AC to cool.

Ac pump wont turn on

Sounds Like The High Pressure Switch on The Air Drier On The Passenger Side Firewall Unplug The Connector From The Switch That Is In The Thing That Looks LIke A Cylinder They Are two Hoses Coming Out It Now That You Found It Take A paper Clip And Stick In Both Contacts On The Wire With Car Running And A/C On The Compressor Should Kick on At This Time If It Does You Know That The Compressor Is Good But I Would Not Leave It Plugged Up Like That For More Than A Few Minutes It Can Burn Up The Compressor If IT is Low On Gas It Will Not Kick on If You Know That It Still Is Full of Gas Then Your High Pressure Switch Is Bad I Would Recommend Making Sure Its Full Before Purchasing A Switch If You Change Switch It Just Unscrews out Counterclockwise

A/c issue

Could be a couple things - one, if the fan switch for the AC condenser is not working, it'll keep the AC from kicking on, but that's usually seen by the compressor not coming on. When you activate the AC, do your RPM drop down at all? It should. If it does, the compressor is kicking on and you probably have a problem with the expansion valve, which is what flash chills the air. The car is pumping freon around but it's not cooling enough to cool the car. That's likely an expansion valve problem.

If you turn it on and the revs don't dip down momentarily, the compressor isn't coming on, and it could be the fan switch underhood or the AC relay.
