It has plenty of fuel. In fact, I just completely filled the tank less than 24 hours before it quit working. I don't know where to find the fuel filter. Yes the pump is aligned in the right position.

Fuel problem 2000 Hyundai Accent

Not long ago my wife Accent stopped running. I figured out it was a fuel pump problem. So I took the back seat out,(you dont have to drop the tank), and removed the fuel pump. After installing a new fuel pump the Accent still did not run. The fuel pump wasnt charging when the key was turned on. Well I figured out the little 2-3 inch jumper wire (has a plug on both ends with 2 wires in between) goes bad, kind of like a fusable link. So I got that wire and replaced it and problem solved. Now I have a spare fuel pump (the one I replaced).

Ok i have a 1999 hyundai accent wont start changed fuel pump and it started ran very bad very! turned it off wouldnt start back up again checked spark plugs no spark and no power going to fuel pump we are...

Changing the pump doesn't affect the spark so lets start a that the beginning?? Why was the pump replaced and was it running fine before changing the pump? Also plugs could be fouled as well but if it was working fine before the fuel pump it will be fine afterwards if getting gas and the fuel pump was the problem., Also how did you verify no spark??

How to replacea fuel pump

Just in case you don't get an answer from someone that knows. It is usually in the gas tank,on frame
near tank or in the engine compartment. If you start at the engine compartment and follow the gas line back and don't see it,its most likely in the tank. There should be a auto parts store somewhere around you, look at the repair books, find the one that has your make and model and see what it says.
You can also ask the guy behind the counter if they covered the book with plastic wrap so you can't read it and have to buy it. Its a pretty simple job, undo the hoses and plug, install new one, clamp on hoses and plug in. The pain comes if the pump is in the tank, because most times you have to drop the tank to access the pump , and then most times you will need a tank strap kit because they are in the worst place and become very rusted and brake when you try to remove them. Hope it work out easy for you.

It sounds like the fuel pump is getting a bit weak, and when you remove the filler cap, this relieves pressure within the fuel tank. A good local mechanic should be able to quickly test the fuel pressure generated by the fuel pump. Many auto parts stores sell a fuel pump pressure tester. But working with fuel lines and raw fuel isn't a good idea unless you know what you are doing. It could be the fuel pressure regulator valve, but this is less likely.

Possibly your engine could have a serious vacuum leak somewhere on its intake side of the engine, but you would have other symptoms aside from the specific symptom of having difficulty starting the car after filling the car up with gas.

It occurs to me that the following test might indicate a failing fuel pump:

After driving for a while (at least 10 minutes), turn off the car, then take the gas cap off to relieve tank pressure, put the cap back on, and then see if you have difficulty starting the car. If you do, then a failing fuel pump is the problem. Well, at least if this test confirms the problem, its better than suddenly being stranded when the fuel pump does completely give up the ghost! :-)
