Car shutting down right after I turn it on

I have a 1997 pontiac sunfirel. When I turn it on, it turn off right away. I think it is going to stay on but it just shuts down.

I believe it is the chip inside your ignition. it may not be getting its signal to the ecu.

I am assuming that this is a fuel injected car. Are you sure that the injectors are getting enough fuel in the engine to keep it running?

Passlock system will not shut off , car starts up then shuts down

try to start the car then leave it sit with the key in the run position for 10 min. turn key off and then it should start and stay running.hope this helps

Rpm guage cuts out and car quits but starts right away all the time

Best thing to do is go to Auto Zone and have the care scanned for any DTC codes. Auto Zone scan free of charge and that way we might get to the problem right away. It could be your cam sensor or crank shaft sensor or both that may have gone bad. There are just to many sensors that can shut down the engine and getting the car scanned will eliminate replacing good parts. Good luck and keep me posted.

Overheating-shuts off on the slightest grade

Thermostat should help but make sure fuel line isn't too close to heat source (engine or exhaust). This can perk your gas.
