Question about Ford Freestar

This vehicle has a popping sound in the air cleaner housing,also has code po301 cyl 1 missfire,also engine rpms fluxuate after 3,000 also runns poorly in wet weather. I have replaced spark pluges but had no plug gap info,replaced plug wires,coil pack,intake plunium "o" rings and just now replacing the masf sensor which still has made no diffirence.

Without knowing your model and year and engine, check and make sure no wires are damaged, while running unplug the alternator and see if the problem stops a short inside the alternator can cause an electrical current change causing the problems if so replace it, is the air filter dirty, if so replace it, and lastly inspect around the intake for any cracks, you can use a can of starting fluid, while its running spray around the intake and see if it idles up, if so look at where you sprayed it and see if you can see gap or broke vacuum line.

Po113 is the air temp code it was not transferred from old air cleaner po102 is a air flow code set from over oiling the new filter. the engine still will never rev over 3,000 rpms due built in rev limiter to stop over reving with no load.

Have a missing on 08 f150 4.6 went to auto zone and got a code reading and it said probable cause is a sludge throttle body/air flow got cleaner for it and clean throttle body but it still misses some one...


it is possible for it to be a coil, the thing with fords are that it takes alot of time for the misfire counter to turn the check engine light on and at the smae time set a code for missfire, if you have a code reader available check to set if there is a po301-po302 -po303,and so on the p is for power tran the o is that it is a generic code 3 indicateds misfire, 01,02 indicate which cly. is misfiring , alot of time you have to drive the fords for awhile before it will set a misfire code. if you have a good scan tool you can go to mode 6 and check misfire counters for which cly. is missing. than you can check compression in that cly, chec coil and plug.

CODE SAYS MISSFIRE AND IDLE GOES UP AND DOWN


It sounds like your intake manifold gasket. These cars are well known for this. Get a can of either brake cleaner, or engine cleaner. While the car is running, spray the cleaner directly onto the gasket where the intake manifold bolts onto the back of motor. Most of these cars leak air between cyl. 1 and 2. there are 9 nuts holding this on. If you hear any change in the idle while spraying, you will have just confirmed that the gasket is the problem. Let me know how you make out, and if you need, I have this complete change on video. Its a cheap change and easily done let me know how this test goes, and if it's not the problem I can teach you how to check the Air idle, throttle positioning , and EGR sensors. Let me know

You'll need to have a compression test done, it sounds like you may have a burnt valve in cyl.#1. If the compression is good, then I'd look at checking the injector in that hole, it may be plugged.

2003 freeland code p1319 , misfire code po301,po302,po303,po304, misfire at idel, high speed drive fine,


OBDII those codes generally mean misfire.

P0300 multiple missfire
P0301 missfire cyl 1
P0302 missifre cyl 2
ect.

Ensure you have the proper spark plugs. Check the coil boots/wires, look for burn marks. Anything beyond that you may have to take it back to the shop.
You are misfiring on all 4 cylinders and it is not spark plugs. Those misfires if not addressed can cause serious engine and/or cat converter damage. There are lots of things that could be causing it and most of them need to be checked out at a shop - unless you want to invest several thousand dollars in the appropriate equipment and training.

Code po301 and po308 ,what should i check first , idles rough


First 2 things i would check are first your plug wires. Your engine is telling you number 1 and number 8 are missfiring. Check your wires and the routing for the wires and next i would check the boots. If the boots get cracked or a hole in them they will missfire to the head thru the boot. check for routing on your plug wires. These engines will missfire if the wires are crossed. There may be a service bulletin on your engine for this. If you change the plug wires they need to be routed exaclty as they were before.

TROUBLE CODES PO301 & PO306 HAVE ALREADY


P0301 = Cyl no 1
P0306 = Cyl no 6

If you have changed plugs and leads and confident that they are now ok you need to run a compression check on all the cylinders, I'd emagine they should all be running at approximately 150psi per bore, if 1 & 6 are down it could be the head gasket, timing or piston rings.
