You need to buy a new horn switch, this will be a dealer item. most likely you can disable the air bag by pulling a fuse and snap out the center of your steering wheel trim, sometimes there are a couple of screws holding it in so look on the back of the steering wheel before you go gorilla. replace the horn switch and put it back together. as you do the work, carry this hassle forward and recall it next time you need to go gorilla on the horn. if your car is more than 10 years old a dealer might not have it and you will have to scour junkyards for a matching steering wheel and hope the switch is not bad as you R&R it. you may want to search for an airbag video for your car on www.youtube.com; that will show you more than you need to know about replacing the horn switch.

look in the owners manual under fuses it will show where the fuse box are located. There are probably 2 boxes one inside and 1 under the hood.Have someone honk the horn and start unplugging them. Most of the time they are marked.

Can not get horn to blow on a 2001 malibu

2001 malibu horn fuse and relay are located in the under the hood fuse box.
location 21 should be the relay
location 43 should be the fuse.
if the relay is put in wrong the horn will not work. if you replaced the relay and the horn stopped working try pulling the relay out and turning it around. and try the horn again.

The horn in my 1999 dodge stratus keeps honking

the reason it is doing that is either the pad on the steering wheel is shorting as if you are pressing on it, or the clockspring under the steering wheel is shorting to ground. there is a horn relay in your fusebox inside the cabin; you could disable it there by pulling out the relay. don't pull the fuse because it carries other circuits as well. I couldn't find the exact relay position, but just feel them with your finger while someone honks the horn; the one that's clicking with the horn activation is the one to pull out. I can get you the layout of the fusebox but you really don't need it for that.

The horn in my 2003 pontyiac grand am wont stop honking

you will find a fuse labeled HORN and a relay labeled HORN in the under hood fuse flock. Pull either of those to stop the horn from blowing.

If you need info on how to fix it i can help. You will need a test light or a voltmeter.

You can also try swapping the horn relay with another relay in the fuse block that is the same. If the horn works normally than the relay is bad and will need to be replaced.

I have a 1992 lincoln towncar! when i press the horn button ,i get a clicking sound from under the hood..I tried pressing again a short honk then nothing the relay fuse is good and the fuse is good what is...

You may have a poor connection in the wiring to the horns or the grounding connection. The click you hear is the horn relay. Have someone press the horn button while you wiggle wires. Also try rapping on the horns themselves with a stick or screwdriver handle--if that makes them honk, the internal contacts may be bad. Replace them if that is so, as they are usually sealed. Hope this helps!

Horn won't honk from horn button on wheel. Horn works from panic button. How can I check button on steering wheel? The car is a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. Thanks for help.

I replaced the horn relay which is located inside of fuse panel under the hood of car on the firewall, have someone push button to be able to hear a clicking sound coming out of the correct relay, then trade out relay of the same and see if horn works

The horn honks when I reconnect the battery

Hi,
If the horn only honked once it may be a symptom of your car alarm being set off after power has been re-applied. If the horn stays on after you reconnect the battery you have either a stuck horn button on your steering wheel or a stuck horn relay. Or it could be the alarm sounding the horn but that usually that occurs in a series of horn blasts (rather than continuous) and the car indicators usually flash in sync with the alarm sounding.
If the horn is stuck on in a continuous blast ie not sounding on and then off and then on etc etc, disconnect one the battery cables then pull the fuse that feeds the horn or pull off one of the removable spade electrical connectors from one of the 2 terminals on the horn itself. Usually the fuse box is either under the dashboard on the drivers side or could be under the hood. Consult your user manual for your car for fuse and horn locations.
If the horn is stuck you need to visit a qualified auto electrician, or perhaps you have a friend who knows his way around auto electrics?
Cheers,
Steve (Melbourne, Australia)
