Yes it could be caused by someting else like the light switch, over charging, etc. You should check the bulbs before doing anything else, Light bulbs have an average life-span [ say 5,000 hours for example ], some may never burn out, some may burn out right away, some burn out at the same time. I had the low beams burn-out on a car with-in 1/2 hour, it can happen.

Lights won't turn off on 97 Buick LaSabre

There is a maxi-fuse under the hood for the headlights. Until you get the car fixed, just pull out that fuse when you shut off or don't need lights.
It could be the Body Control Module (BCM) that is causing this. Without a multi-meter and a wiring diagram, you will be pretty much lost. One needs to start checking power in and power out on the appropriate wires. Like this: there will be a wire from the headlight switch to the bcm, then there will be a wire out from the module going to the lights or maybe to the dimmer switch, but it will be the power out wire. The BCM is under the dash, probably on the passenger side.

To change the low beam headlight on the 2001 Lesabre, the headlight assembly must first be removed from the car. It is really quite simple to do. There are two bolts on the top of the assembly that must be removed - that is all! The entire assembly comes out and gives easy access to the low beam bulb. Give it a 1/4 counterclockwise turn to remove it. Plus in the new one (#9006) and reverse the procedure.
