Leaking fuel pressure regulator , or leaking injector's ,depends on injection system . ! it's only running rich on right bank. whatever that means . Your vehicle is a v - 6 has two banks . right side of the engine an left side of the engine . Bank 1 is where #1 spark plug is . bank 1 is odd numbers 1-3-5 Bank 2 is even firing #'s 2-4-6 . What fuel injection system does it have ?
Your best bet mite be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.
The pressure regulator is in the intake manifold when they go bad it either give low pressure or leak out affecting engine performance by burning rich(black smoke)
What it is is that the engine is running rich, check MAP sensor acts like a choke, make sure vacum hose is good and that it has vacum if ok you'll need to check injector's or the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel line for leaking fuel, the bad thing is that to get to these part's you will have to remove the in-take magifold , after removal of in-take have some one turn key to the on position and look for fuel leak's.
Most likely the fuel pressure regulator and injector spyder, under the intake manifold. You can get rebuilt ones. Look on internet for info,on the system.
If you having fuel flow problem, 1st check the fuel pump make sure is has a good pressure, 2nd check the crank sensors, 3rd common problems on 2.2l injectors which it has only one can be faulty or clog. 4th check fuel regulator, if the regulator is bad it wont keep the pressure build up and lock allowing the injector to work correctly. if your fuel pump is good, your crank sensor may also be going bad, what crank sensor does it it sense the flywheel turning and it send single to ECU (computer) telling it to turn on the pump and keep it running as long as the flywheel keep turning. If pump, crank sensor, regulator and injector are good, my next guess is to have your ECU bench tested. if you have to replace ECU, get it from the junk yard.
Replace with Standard Part # FS503 about $300...complete new unit with all you need but plunium gasket worked wonders for my blazer now gets about 19 mpg
