I had this same problem but the high rpm and thermostat indicator rise together if it does i would look at engine coolant temperature sensor your thermostat could be bad as well

is the blower motor or does it sound like the fan comes on. Draining of the battery i would look for a light on if its not the blower motor.

The first things I would check is the TPS and the IAC. The IAC may be electronically fine but mechanically may be stuck. The only way to tell is to remove and manually try to push in the plunger or replace with a known good. The TPS will show higher voltage than normal for idle and should be obvious if the scan tool data shows this.

03 ford explorer turn of at stop light idle goes down and turns off no power

Happens to mine when the engine is cold. Don't have a solution yet. It usually happens at the same set of lights near my house. Putting it in park at lights until the engine is warm on the temperature gauge sometimes helps. Sometimes the engine management light comes on which is annoying. The repair man says it has something to do with a bypass thing when the engine is idling but he changed it and it didn't make much difference! Not like the old days when a good battery was enough to make everything work!

if car was idleing then it quit, i have seen this before. check to see if fuel pump is bad. the car might have been running with gas allready in fuel line. if pump is ok, check fuel filter.
