The coil should be on the top of the intake manifold. I would be willing to bet the reason you have a weak spark on only one cylinder and no others is because the distributor may have a broken gear on the bottom of it not allowing the distributor to turn and supply spark to the other cylinders.

What would cause no fire from the coil to the intake-side set of plugs?

The actual ignition module is the only thing that you have not replaced. That is where the problem is. You can have voltage but not ignition when there is a problem.

# cylinder 3 misfire

you don`t say how you verified that the plug and wire was good. I think these use coil on plug, if so check powers and grounds for that coil as one may have a problem.other things that could cause this is a bad fuel injector, poor compression due to either rings, valve, worn cam, damaged push rod,

No fire mech changed mod on dist what next

Re-check the basics . Does the distributor rotor rotate while cranking?Note: Distributer cap must be removed. Does the vehicle have enough available spark to plugs? Do we have enough fuel pressure 30-35psi min.? With a 12volt test lamp
check for power to fuel injector while cranking. one wire should
remain lit and the other one should blink.
NO ROTOR ROTATION = worn distributor gear,or timing belt failure.
NO SPARK= bad module, coil,no voltage to coil,or faulty PCM
RELAY.
