Hi there lov2trk. The first thing you need to do is take your truck to a auto parts store like NAPA or autozone to have the trouble code from the check engine light read. The large chain parts stores will read the codes for free. It sounds like you have some solenoid issues.

2000 tundra 4x4 4.7 automatic transmission just rebuilt with new converter,& vale body. shifts hard a 30 to 40 mph its driving me crasy cant find why it's doing it. help

First thing is u need to have codes pulled from ur vehicle computer,to illustrate which areas in ur system have issues. no need to go hunting,wen u have a computer waiting to comunicate issues directlty affecting ur vehicles performance with easy to read diagnostic codes

This is caused by a sticking or defective 2nd gear electric shift solenoid.

Can i shift the gear immediately while climbing on a high roads from high speed to low speed on a automatic transmission 1996 honda civic vti vtec? Do i need to brake first the engine before i will shift...


That is not recommended, as it could cause transmission damage. Since you have a VTEC you should get a power boost at around 5000 rpm which should make climbing hills easier and not need a shift of the transmission.

Honda passport 2000 3.2 l v6 eng automatic transmission the check engine light stays on i used a scan tool and it returned a code P0463 which is fuel level circuit A high input... what does this mean?


2000 Honda Passport v6 auto transmission..at time transmission did not down shift when stoping and it would stay on low grear. when going after stop it would be on low grear but pick up speed to go 45 mi. pmh but would not down shift when stoped. until maybe 3 miles and it would down shift at stop or when driving at slow speed?

When cold transmission shifts thru all gears, but when it warms up it wont shift past second


If it shifts normally and then it warms up and goes backwards OK and the check enigine light works and isn't on while driving the trans has the right fluild and it's not low then the trans has bad troble. If the check engine light is on find and fix the reason Speed sensers Theres 3 leaks burnt fluild correct and see if its fixed the engine needs to run right and hit the right temperture as it runs. otherwise an expensivew rebuild is next or a used transmission.

Check the transmission fluid and see it's condition. Make sure it's at the proper level, the whining noise sounds like the transmission has low line pressure which would be a bad transmission pump. The "klunk" was the line pressure being high and low right now could ba a faulty transmission pressure line servo. Newer automatic transmission designs often use many pressure control solenoids, and sometimes allow the shift solenoids themselves to provide precise pressure control during shifts by romping the solenoid on and off. The shift pressure affects the shift quality (too high a pressure will result in rough shifting; too low a pressure will cause the clutches to overheat) and shift speed. Check the fuse box at the end of the dash on the driver's side and look for the transmission fuse and make sure it's not bad. You can also try resetting the ECM by placing the ignition to the run position and pulling the ECM (BATT) fuse out for 30 seconds and placing it back in and starting the jimmy. It may stall but let it and don't touch anything. Just restart the engine and everything should be like the way it came off the assembly line and hope the transmission come back to life till you can get it to a transmission shop for a proper scan. Speedometer not working, high revs & won't shift out of low gear


Your issue is a bad "speed sensor". Your speedometer is controlled by a sensor in your transmission, and when it quits working your speedometer will not work, it can cause very irregular shift patterns and slipping. Replacing your speed sensor should resolve your issues.

Transmission , idle, check engine


My 1st suggestion would be to get a scan done for the check engine light. I'm not talking about a simple 'code reader' but an actual scan tool so all of the different sensors and perimeters can be read. You will need to get one or find someone with a scan tool which can do OBD I vehicles.

If the engine isn't running correctly this could cause the transmission not wanting to shift. 2 vehicles that come to mind where I've seen this happen.

One was a Pontiac and it wouldn't shift into overdrive. Problem was the thermostat which was stuck open and it wouldn't allow the engine to get up to proper temperature which kept the transmission from shifting.

The other was a Ford Explorer that the lady thought for sure the transmission was bad. After a test drive and investigation it was found the catalytic converter was mostly plugged which wouldn't allow the engine to achieve the proper torque and RPMs to get the transmission to shift.

Now granted neither of these examples are an exact duplicate of the problems you are having. They are simply to illustrate that engine performance (or the lack of) CAN affect the way the transmission shifts.

Do you have a check engine light on? The line pressure is too high in the transmission. This is either from a bad epc solenoid in the transmission or the computer commanding the pressure high from a bad MAF. If you have a bad MAF you should have other MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) codes in the computer.
