One easy way is to have someone hold key in crank ing position, then another person needs to hit or tap the starer housing itself.if engine begins to crank intermittently or ur cliking noise turns into small jolts of the starter trying to crank then u can bet its the strtr motor. u do need a charged batt for this test. also chek ur battery grounds they can dramatically affect starter operation if we have a voltage drop anywhere in starter circuit .chek batt cables r tight on batt posts, loose batt cables on battery will also give u clicking noise w no starter operation

Check battery cables and starter connections for tight connections. try to cross jump the starter with a metal contact by crossing jump the ignition post on starter selonoid ( small # 10 stud ) to the positive post large post. does car crank, (starter engage) if so and all cables have good connections then you probably have a bad starter selonoid. you can also have someone turn key while you wiggle battery connections and also down to the starter and see if it makes a connection.

i heard you, battery is fine but needs to be tested. can it deliver the required cold cranking amps? i had experience like that. measured 12+ volts at battery terminals, & hesitantly tried to jump but no go. took out battery for free recharge, they told me bad battery.

Car will not start

this doesn't sound good at all. if you couldn't jump start it within a few minutes, you should have stopped right there. maybe you were jumpping the car wrong, from doing so, you may have fried the computer, that rounds your entire engine. try installing a new battery, if any codes were stored in the computer, clear them out. some times just removing the battery cables for a few minutes will do this . sometimes not. try to start the engine. donot jump start, see if will start on its own. if not, seek professional help, keep blaming goodyear until you get results !!!!!!

I had a problem with my starter solenoid my truck was not starting. i have a 1996 ford ranger i bought a new one the truck started a few times and then it stopped. what is my problem.

You should have your battery tested & make sure that the terminals are cleaned & well protected wth grease once charged fully. Since you crossed/jumped the solenoid & didn't get it to start until jumping the battery (providing extra voltage), that rules out the solenoid and the ignition switch. Sometimes a battery will test full without a load but will not provide the voltage to the solenoid to actually complete the circuit, thus the clicking sound. If the battery is strong, and the starter bad, the solenoid will click solidly once, passing full voltage to the starter that will either turn, hum, or do nothing. good luck

Truck Wont Start and Battery Runs Down.

get a load test done on you battery and alter nator and check your starter for corrision check battery connections before you jump start it and when hooking up cables to your truck let it charge for a few minutes before you crank it if alternator is fried it will only run on juice of battery then will die.the clicking sound is your starter trying to engage but not enough cranking amps left in battery if you can get it going or take the battery out and take to a good auto shop and get them to load test it no point replacing a good battery just to find out it is alternator or starter
I personaaly think it may be alternator but suggest you test if battery is good starter as well ! more thing check that battery terminals are clean and tight

(ENGINE won't TURNOVER) Just a "click" then nothing...

How old is your battery? 1st thing to check is connections at battery and starter. Make sure there is no corrosion, clean connections with fine sandpaper, make sure connections are tight. If dirty or loose connections exist, you won't be able to start or jump your car. If connections check out ok, pull the battery out and bring it to a parts store for a free check of it's condition. If it's bad, again, you may not be able to even jump start it. If battery charge is good, and condition ok, check your starter. You can also get a free check if you remove it and bring it to a parts store for testing.

O4 armada wont start. battery good terminals

sounds like the terminals at the starter may be bad. thats the sounds you would normally get from a dead battery, but if the batt and terminals are good then check the connection at the starter. if the connection at the starter is good then you probably need a new starter.
