When the hazards are on and you step on brakes yes the lights will go solid, this is normal design and are suppose to do that. under dash there is a blinker (flasher) silver or blue in color, 1 1/4 " in diameter about 1 " thick with two male flat prongs. It either plugs into fuse box or there is a female plug dangling under dash that it plugs into. check for power with test light, if power is present then flasher is bad. if no power (with key on and blinker on, left or right side ) then check plug wires back to fuse box. if you have power to those then check the blinker switch power.

well im back had a long day. does your front lights blink at all? as the more you explain i agree with jcampo1000 you may have a ground wire issue. but you still did not indicate if the flasher
is working. you should be able to hear a clicking noise under dash when blinker switch is on. are you checking wires with test light? check the ground wire contact point. should be under rear of truck near the plug that splits to each rear light. then clean off all that heavy 4x4 mud slingin fun stuff and unplug tail light connector and check for each blinker, and marker light for power at plug.(located under rear truck inside frame rail, driver side, between fuel tank and rear bumper) When ever i use a test light i always attach jumper cables to battery and ground the test light to the ground on cables, now there is no guess work if the light is making a ground instead of fighting rusted or painted surfaces. I also believe that removal of tail light housings you will find a ground wire that screws into the body panel check there also.

I have a ticking like a blinker sound ticking inside my vehicle.. it sounds like a continuous blinker going. All my out side lights flashers blinkers are working .What could this be?

look for the hazzard /4 ways switch. see if this is where this ticking is coming from. if so slowly move the turn signal switch . if it stops or changes, you have a bad turn signal switch. the hazzard and the turn signals operate through the hazzard switch..it has a built in relay.hope this was helpful

97 Chevy truck blinkers not working but hazards do

Try replacing the Flasher first before spending to much money for a possible simple fix. If it's not your flasher then it could be the turn signal leaver.
Ok, this may seem stupid, but that's what they did to the blazer. They set the flasher near the middle and under the center console behind the radio.

It's to the left of the radio right behind the dash. The hazard flasher and the turn signal flasher are side by side.  It right next to the Cig lighter behind the panel. They do mark the turn signal from the hazard flasher on the plastic behind them. Turn is on the right.

Good luck and hope this helps.
