How do i remove front brake lines on a 2000 dodge dakota

You can pickup a replacement line at Advance Auto, Autozone, Carquest, Napa, O'Reilly's, or any other auto parts store.

Use two open end wrenches to separate the two lines -it may be one of these sizes standard sizes 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16".

Keep a pan or bucket underneath the lines to catch the fluid.

Use one open end wrench (use appropriate size) to remove the other end of the line from the wheel cylinder. I am assuming that you have drum brakes.

If you find that the hex heads are rusted, froze, or chewed up -try using the following items as well.

Try using metric wrenches when the hex heads have rusted to a smaller size. Also wire brushing rust away may help the wrench fit better.

Spray frozen parts with penetrating oil and let soak a few minutes.

If still froze -use a propane torch or a MAPP gas torch to heat fittings.

If hex head is chewed use vise grip pliers.

Good luck.

  • Hello, and thank you for the opportunity to assist you. Here is the serpentine diagram for a 2000 LaSaber. The only engine size for that year was a 3.8 which I have always thought of as an all around great engine.

I have a 1997 chevy blazer that has a brake fluid leak just underneath passenger rear seat on drivers side and cannot find how to see what the heck is leaking what is the best procedure to figure out what...

you most likely have a brake line rusted threw, cut the line ahead of the leak and after the leak and splice in a new piece of brake line, it will have to be steel, you can not use rubber. if you take the line to a parts store they can size it up and get you a piece of steel line and some pressure fittings to put it back together, after you repair the line then you will need to bleed the rear brakes.

I need to replace the right rear brake line as it rusted out. What size are the lines and fittings?

Your best bet is to get the line at an auto parts store. The line would be correct in size and bent correctly for easy installation with fittings included. That takes all the worry about building your own line.
Hope this helps... Good luck!

Brakes went soft & then I saw the brake fluid was squirting out a small hole in the FLOORPAN!!!Is there a brake fluid resevoir on the inside of the car , right above the rear of the gas tank???...

The brake linbe is rusted out. there is no easy fix. have a qualified shop replace the brake line. Th eproblem is what ever is at the ends of the lines may be too rusted also and the repairs can become quite expensive, depending what needs to be repaired to make the car safe. Making the car safe is the bottom line. the other brake lines may be ready to go at any time.

Leaking brake line over hub of rear rusted

If you want to fix this yourself, you will need to first determine what size brake line you require. It is usually either 3/16" or 1/4". You can purchase the brake line at most autoparts stores. It will come in five foot sections. You will need enought brake line for the job and most likely a compression fitting. This job will require a tubing cutter, flairing tool, and tubing bender. Not really a hard job, you can do it!! Good luck and hope this helps.

Replace rear passenger brake line on 1993 cutlass oldsmobile, line rusted in the middle of the car frame and blew a leak.

If you want to do this yourself, just remove the brakeline. Go to a parts store and buy the length of brake line that you need. Most brake lines are 3/8" or 1/4" so get the right size. Get the brake line fittings. You will need tubing cutter, tubing bender, and flairing tool. Just cut it to the right length, bend it to the right shape, and install it. Presto!!! New brake line! Hope this helps. Good luck.

Front barke caliper bolts on 97 biuck leasbre what type and size

You will need to climb back there with a flashlight and look. I believe they are allen bolt, and they auto parts store will sell a kit with 3 of the most used allen bolts drivers in a 3/8" socket set.

Alternative is that the bolts may be torx, in which case, the auto parts store will have those as well.

The nice thing is, the sizes are very common, and the driver kit's normally have the 2-3 sizes that are most common for brake repair.

Brake line replacement

what i usually do if the money is available is purchase the brake lines in all sizes from the auto parts store and return any unused parts to the auto parts store, for a refund. they usually know the sizes you need ; you could also do the front first then the rear, or replace one line to get the size, also need a tubing bender to bend the brake lines, 'bleeder screws are usually three choices or go to ford or mercury, once you get started its not too bad, beware of compression fittings (unsafe to do it that way) Good Luck .
