Question about Dodge Durango

1 Answer

All power outlets went out. I replaced the fuse in the side panel but, as soon as I plug anything in, I can hear the fuse pop. I have checked all the other fuses andit is the only one that is blown.

You will need a new power outlet / cig lighter socket. The side tabs can get bent, and it will internally short and blow the fuse, whenever something is installed. Visually look inside the socket to see if the 2 side tabs (ground) are bent inward or downward. The center dot at the very bottom is the power, if it touches the sides or the tabs it will blow the fuse. It could also be the appliance you are plugging in, try something different (like a phone charger).

There has to be a way to pop the actual power port out to see if thats disconnect or possibly broke. They usually have a wiring harness that just snaps in place. Id start there. Hope this helps!

Check the fuse. 15 amp, labeled CIG in fuse box. the fuse box is like in front of the drivers left knee under the lower dash panel. The power outlet should be there also.

No electrical power to any of 4 power outlets in 02 Toyota Sequoi

In the fusible link block, if the 120A ALT FUSE is OK and in the instrument panel junction box if the 15A CIG FUSE, the 7.5A RAD 2 FUSE, the 15A POWER OUTLET FUSE and the ACC RELAY are OK, there has to be a wiring fault.

Both of my front Power/cigarette lighter outlets give no power?

I do not have a diagram for this but : Lighter outlets are a "high draw" item which will be served by a circut breaker, not a regular fuse. Circut breakers are small silver plug in items found on your fuse panel. Both units may be on different lines also because of "HI draw". I'ts also not really difficult to make a new circut for this, to add outlets where you need them, or to replace missing ones.

Power outlets don"t work

Be sure what you are plugging into the outlet has the same polarity as the outlet itself. Some of todays accessories being foreign made have a reverse polarity versus american made cars.
