Alarm system

Most alarm systems have a CMOS battery inside them... like a PC has- which uses a button cell. You need to replace the battery inside the alarm unit... not the one in the fip key. Your immobilizer is stopping your car and must be turned off to allow it to move. Try disconnecting the negative terminal for ten (10) minutes and see if that fixes it first!

1997 dodge caravan, full battery, turn key and it clicks, door chime buzzes, wont start. what should i look at?

Corrosion at the battery cables first. After that, remove the alarm system. Fix the wires as you go.

How do i disable the anti theft system on a 04 dodge stratus

Not sure if this will work but it did for me. My battery died on my old 01 stratus rt and when I put new battery in my alarm kept going off. So I disconnected battery, both cables and touched them together and reattached them and it worked. I would try that. I will look into bypassing it as I did this when I installed a new alarm system with remote start I just don't have my book in front of me.

My original battery still has the green eye but can not start the engine due to weak battery power. Why? I had a 2006 Sienna LE purchased brand new from dealer. Thanks. manpower

If the battery checks OK, then it could be corrosion (even after 3 years) either at the battery terminals or at the other end of those heavy cables.
Remove your negative battery terminal first - ALWAYS. Then the positive. Clean them both with a wire brush or terminal cleaning brush.
If it still turns over too slowly, you will need to remove the negative battery terminal, then from under the vehicle, remove the other end of your positive cable from the starter terminal and clean both the terminal and the cable end; reattach.
With the negative still disconnected, locate the other end of this cable (may be on the engine block or bolted to the chassis sheet metal) and, there will be an additional cable that connects the chassis to the engine block or vice - versa. Clean and reattach these.
Finally, reconnect the negative cable to the negative battery terminal.
When I go through this routine, I use either dielectric grease or a least petroleum jelly smeared liberally on each of the mating surfaces before reattaching.
If it still turns over slowly, the green eye is lying! Once started, you can go to any of the larger chain auto parts stores and they will test your battery free.

My 98 pontiac grand am wont turn over it makes 1 click thats it .is my starter bad ?and where is the stater on the car

The problem doesn't need to be the starter; the first thing you should eliminate is the chance that the problem is only poor contact at the battery terminals, the point where the negative cable is attached (either body sheet metal or engine block) and the starter terminal itself.
You can buy a tool for cleaning battery terminals at any auto parts store or, if the battery has side terminals, use any wire brush. - Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery first. - Then remove the positive terminal. - Clean all parts throughly. - Reattach them. - Try starting the engine.
If it doesn't start; - Disconnect the negative terminal again. - From under the car, locate the starter; it will be at the junction of the engine and transmission and it will have one end obviously butted against the transmission housing. - Remove the heavy cable from the starter and clean the cable end and the starter terminal. - Reattach the cable to the starter. - Reattach the negative battery terminal. - Try starting the engine.
If it still doesn't start, it may still be only a drained battery so find someone to 'jump' your battery and try to start the engine again. If it still doesn't start, then the starter could be bad.
I've had pretty good luck with rebuilt starters and these will cost far less than new.

Remote goes off continueouslly and unless battery cable remove won't stop. Also, vechicle won't start.

Some Jeep models have the ability to reset the alarm by following this procedure. Connect the battery cables and allow the antitheft alarm to trigger (usually horn honking and lights flashing). Use your ignition key to lock, unlock, lock and unlock the passenger front door. This should reset the system to be used normally. If your key fob is the problem, remove batteries to stop alarm trigger and have dealership test and/or replace fob. Hope this helps.

Remove the negative battery cable, wait 10 minutes, reattach the cable, this will hopefully reset the computer and the lights will go out.
