Question about 2004 Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

My 2004 Mits Galant air conditioning is not working correctly. First of all, when the AC level is on 1 or 2 it doesn't blow at all. It blows on Levels 3 and 4, however the air is not cool at all. It is warm. Please help me. I just need a rough idea of what's wrong and the approxiamate cost to get it fixed. Thanks a lot. Michelle

Problem one the blower positions first it could be the blower resistor or possibly the switch second problem no cool air there is a heater shut off valve under the dash on the right side of the radio if you change the temp control from cold to hot and hot to cold and hear a clicking ,grinding noise this valve is bad and not shutting off the hot air to the system making your a/c feel warmer , or a/c system has a leak somwhere and will have to be recharged and traced to repair it

I would check the freon in the system. Their are kits avail. at parts shops such as Advance etc. Follow the directions and "viola" things will be cool.

Air conditioner blowing hot air and has plenty of freon

Hello, If the AC compressor clutch is working ok, more troubleshooting will be needed to determine the problem. A set of AC manifold gauges needs to be connected and pressure readings taken. From those results, the faulty componet can be found.... i hope this helps.

2001 dodge status rt 3.0 engine will blow out cold air sometimes. It doesnt seem to be overheating. Do I need to change the therostat.

Thats a very inexpensive route to start with. It blows out cold air when you put your heat on?If so it could also be in the heating unit itself. If your car makes a clicking noise when you switch your heat over from the AC, it could be your temperature contol unit. My wifes car had that issue, and hers is a a mits Galant, but is set up the same as some stratus's.

No heat or cold air will come out of my2004 Mitsubishi Galant. I took off the dash panel behind the glove box to get to the Blend Door Motor, but after turning the air from hot to cold at various speeds,...

Does the air blows through the dash board vents. Does the selector is functional, that means you can force the air stream through wind shield, or vents or down to the legs. If these things are OKthen check CONTROL PANEL.
Remove the trim plate surrounding the center instrument panel. Detach the electrical connectors and remove the control panel.

Air conditioner blows hot air after 30 seconds on drivers side, on start up. Passenger side works fine. Air blows out correct vents per setting on air conditioning. Replaced blend door actuator on drivers...

I have had this problem. I am not a mechanic...so to correct the issue temporarily, I simply turn off the car and restart. This has worked everytime for me. In extreme cases, I think you can also remove the AC fuse and start the car, which will also reset the computer. I also think that by taking the climate control off the "AUTO" setting has worked in the past.

My AC was running fine before winter, now it only blows air.

If the system is working properly and you are only getting warm air, there are 2 common causes.

1.Check the air mix door motor and wiring.

2. There could be a leak in the AC system. No refrigerant means no air conditioning.
