Have you tried to turn the steering wheel side-to-side, while turning the key?
The steering wheel may be very hard to turn, but moving it just a little may free-up the key
Sometimes parking against a curb, or turning off the car while the steering is turned all the way to one side, will cause the stering wheel lock to actually lock the key cylinder from turning.

    Sorry, that's all I got.
You're positive you have the right key? Tried a spare key?

my daughter has had the same problems with her 2003 honda civic. it starting being hard to turn the key now it won't turn. she have to leave a key in the ignition and lock the doors to use the spare key to open it. We bought a new ignition switch but it won't surn so I would assure it has to be programmed to the car

My key wont go into ignition of my 2003 Cadillac deville. Are there any solutions to getting the key to go into ignition?

If you are unable to insert the key it might be because the tumbler has been turned past the point of key release it happens a lot with worn ignition tumblers try turning the ignition tumbler forward as if to attempt to start it without the key then try to insert the key if that doesn't work try turning it the opposite direction when you get it inserted you need to replace the tumbler asap if anyone who entends on stealing your car the knowledge that you have reported is enough to raise eyebrows of anyone who has bad ententions! I hope that solves your problem?

2003 santa fa wont start, the dash board lights are on and the radio is playing but the car won't turn over. The key turns in the ignition with no resistance, we had to disconnect the battery to save it.

That means the linkage rod fell off your key cylinder. (this happens whenever someone tries to steal your car) the push rod presses your ignition switch. If you know how to pull your steering wheel off, you can replace the key cylinder (if some of the casting is broken) by going to a junkyard. Get a cylinder with a key (you can make copies of the new key later) If the key cylinder was ok then just reattach the rod and put the steering wheel back on (being careful to keep the wheels facing forward before you remove the steering wheel so that you put it back the same way)

I can't turn my ignition key forward or backward

Try turning your steering wheel either way while turning the key!!! If the wheels are not straight when you turn of the car the ignition cylinder will lock in position If you turn the wheel a little while turning the key it will unlock the cylinder..

Hi, Just spray some DW40 in the ignition switch. Then put the key in and turn and wiggle it. If you have steering lock work it some more till it does.

Key will not turn in the ignition. Will not turn forward or backwards, but key can be removed. Car parked on an incline. Steering wheel will turn, locks and doors work.

ur steering wheel should not turn with the key out, it should look at a certain point. the ignition barrel that u put the key in is faulty and needs replacing.

Key won't turn on 2003 Hoda Pilot

Sometimes the steering wheel will put pressure on the switch from the steering lock. Try this:
- insert the key that usually works
- with your foot on the brake, make sure the shifter is fully in park
- while turning the key, move the steering wheel left or right firmly

How to get key out that is stuck in ignition

Remove steering column shroud(cover)and tap ignition barrel with small hammer while twisting key backwards and forwards, also turn steering wheel backwards and forwards sometimes this is enough to release key as the locking pins in barrel and the steering lock pin do sometimes jam.You will have to remove steering column shroud to replace ignition barrel if tapping/hitting it doesnt work anyway so its not a wasted effort.Good luck, let me know how it works out
