The code that is setting is accelerator pedal position sensor failure.
When this code sets it does a "failsafe" to prevent it from going full throttle.

There are several required special tools for this repair. The average handy man usually won't have these available.
MB991958: Scan Tool (MUT-III Sub Assembly)
MB991827: USB Cable
MB991911: Main Harness B
I would highly suggest you take it to a mechanic capable of doing this repair for you.

Diagnosis must begin with scanning your Engine Control Module to find out why it has turned the light on. The car may seem to be running OK, but there is probably a problem that is causing you to use excessive fuel and/or is threatening to destroy some high dollar parts like your catalytic converter.
