1990 Ford Ranger was equipped with an R-12 system (Unless it has been retrofitted) The low side port for those systems were usually on the suction-side reciever/drier. I have also seen upgraded hose kits installed on some of these vehicles (for retrofitting purposes) where the port is on the hose assembly between the drier and the compressor or even on the compressor manifold itself.

Diagram of low pressure port valve on 1996 ford ranger air compressor

If you don't know the difference between "coolant" and "refrigerant", you probably should not be fooling around with the A/C, it can be dangerous. And yes, words do make a difference. That is how we communicate. The best thing you can do if you want to work on vehicles, is get some books and educate yourself. The low side port is going to be somewhere between the compressor low side (the larger line) and the accumulator/dryer. Find the line and follow it. It can't be too hard to find as it is a general service port.

Ford Ranger a/c blowing hot air

You have the right port if it fits the RECHARGE hose. If it's reading 130 psi, it might be way overcharged.
Did you follow directions and did the AC compressor clutch kick in? At that pressure,on the low side, the compressor shouldn't even engage.
To discharge the system if overcharged, you need for a shop to do it. don-ohio (:^)

Low side on ranger for the port on the ac

hmm ..if you are looking for the low side air conditioner port .. then locate the condenser (thats in front of and looks like the radiator) .. you will notice two tubes going to that ..one is large the other small .. the small tube is the high pressure side .. the large tube is the low pressure side ... follow the large tube back until you find a cap that covers the low pressure port .. thats where you would fill with new refregerant (r134a) .. if you buy r134a, you can also get a filler hose and gage.. that hose will only hook up to the low pressure port ..it wont fit the high pressure port ...

Ac low side service port location

Your service port will always be in the larger line of the two .. which is low pressure side. It might be in the dryer also which is low side.. your dryer is about 3 inches across and 8 inches long and also has your pressure switch for the AC compressor in it.. holler if you dont find it now... thanks Jerry
