I have a suggestion I could be right I could be wrong. But on some cars, under your brake pedal there is a switch that turns your brake lights on. Most of them have like a button on the top of it when you get down on the floor you can look up and see the switch see if the button is going in and out when the brake pedal makes contact with it.

I hope this helps you out if it does then please leave me a YES that I did attempt to help you. Thank you.

Hi, try disconnecting the connector from the headlight switch. If this doesn't turn the lights off, the problem is the body control module. If disconnecting the headlight switch DOES turn the lights orff, replace the headlight switch. You can probably get a used body control module from a salvage yard. They may also have the headlight switch, but you can get those at your local parts chain. To access the switch, pull the bezel straight out as shown below. The BCM is behind the fuse panel as shown below. Please let me know if you have any questions, anmd thanks for using FixYa.

Chevy s10 brake lights

If the problem is that the brake lights will not turn off, the problem is most likely the CHMSL relay. An easy check is to take the cover off the fuse block mounted on the driver's side fender well and swap the fog lamp relay with the CHMSL relay. If that fixes it, just get a new relay for the fog lamps and you're good to go. Note, my 2002 s10 does not have fog lamps, but it still had the relay populated in the fuse block.
