Question about 2004 Jaguar S Type

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Jaguar S-Type, the check engine light is on and the local shop tells me it needs a tune up. They said that in order to do this they will have to pull the heads to get to the plugs and will need to have the coils changed. Looks like $900...is that correct?

There is no reason for pulling the heads off, but coils about $80 each. If you have the V-8, that would be $640 if they replaced all coils. I would never do that. I would test each one. It isn't even hard to do. A tune up is usually plugs only. Then if the codes do not clear, you would start testing coils (not replacing them). Is there another shop you can go to?

Take the Jag down and get a look at it and get it inspected. Cars tend to spring up on people like this. The light goes off, you check, you think it is fine. But later, it just so happens that it isn't.

I am sorry but we have no parts here. I would suggest you contact a local salvage yard or use one of the online search engines for used parts.

I have a light on regarding my engine. This light looks like a star with an explination point in the middle. My car seam not to get power.

This is the engine management light you need to have your local automotive shop read the ecu then they can tell you what the problem is. Low power is due to ecu restriction because of the problem.

Continuous noise emanating from dash of my 2004 jaguar x-type 3.0 engine off.

There are timed relays that automatically turn off accessories like vents, interior lights etc. This definitely requires an automotive electrician to overview the vast electrical units and pinpoint the actual problem. It is very tidious and hard if dash removal is required. Talk to you local electrician or Jaguar technician to physically see it and quote you. That is a draw back to online help where actual sight and sound are required. We hope its not something extensive. Good luck.

Go to your local garage (anyone) and have them read the OBDII code this will tell you what has caused the problem, cost for this should be minimal £7-10 ask them for all the reported codes you can check them out at http://www.bluejag.co.uk if you wish to find out what they mean.

What are common reasons for the check engine light commming on, on a 2002 2.5 x-type sport

there could be many things causing your check engine light to come on . you would
need the fault code stored in the computer before anyone could tell
you anything about why the light is on. however if it runs and
drives normally its probably not to serious, stop by your local repair shop or buy a code reader and see what the codes are..

You need to get a fault code diagnosis, do it yourself with something like OBD Key or get the local car repair shop to check it for you.

Check Engine Light ON

What codes come on? P0420

The converter's only purpose is to reduce emissions from the engine, in rare cases the converter can disintegrate which could result in a loss of power but this is not very common,

This means that you're Cat needs repair or replacement, You're car will not pass legally smoged without fixing this. :

Good luck
