This sounds like a bad connection at the battery cables / battery post. Check your connections at the battery. They need to be clean and tight, you can use baking powder / water solution to clean the connections. .

Start at battery and check and clean all connections. Check ends for corrosion, or weak points, as well as remove and clean all ground cables. That's where I'd start.

2004 Taurus hard to start sometimes

Sounds like low fuel pressure. I would have the pressure checked with a gauge. Could be a faulty relay or pump.

Ford 150 Van No Start No Crank Same problem aftermarket remote start problem !
Watch the second part too . Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Look under dash or the hood an see where the remote start is hooked up , what wires ! You can find a wiring diagram here at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter the vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on starting . Click the search button , then on blue link . You'll see all the componets in the starter circuit .

2004 ford taurus occasionaly wont start right up.

Can you tell me if it was in fact the starter? I have an 04 Ford Taurus with 99K miles on it. This week when I started it up, not everytime but often the abs, brake, tire and traction control lights will stay on. Also the computer display will read either park brake engaged or passenger door ajar. I turn it off and start it again and the issue goes away. This morning it acted as though it had a dead battery and I had the clicking sound behind the dash as well as the vibrating needles. Thanks!

Once in a while car dies while trying to start

Several things. Take the car to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. Before you go, check the starter and starter cables under the car. Have them check starter draw. Have them check the battery and alternator.

It sounds like the alternator is not quite filtering out the electric pulses it creates when working. The starter can ground out but usually not after you are moving.

If the gauges do not indicate anything, do a wiggle test to see if you can find the short.

2004 Taurus won't start, only clicking noise when I turn the key.

It sounds like it could be the starter solenoid. I would remove the battery and have it tested, then when the battery is put back in make sure all battery connections are clean and tight. If you go to autozone.com, you can register your vehicle for free and have access to a full online repair manual. Good luck and hope this helps.

Key Does Not Work

It could be that chip inside key just went bad. Do u have a 3rd key? That works? If so take the 2 good keys and turn the igntion to run postion for 3 secs each then do the same for the 3rd key and this will reprogram it if the chip is ok. If you do not have 2 good keys then u will have to have a scan tool that will link up with PATS system and perform security access to reprogram it.

Car engine wont turn over

it sounds like either the key is going bad (chip inside) or the PAT's immobilizer system is not detecting a key is inserted with the correct code. If you remove the column surround you will see connectors just make sure all of these are secure, watch the yellow one do not disconnect it as its the airbag and theres a chance of it deploying.
Also try your spare ignition key if you have one.

If all is ok i'm afraid you may need to make a trip to ford for them to diagnose, the pat's system works well almost too well sometimes. i deal alot with them while installing remote starts and when they go wrong its almost always the dealer to resolve it. They have the computer software to test the system.
Sorry,

Car still won't start

The taurus is equipped with what is called a PATS (passive anti theft) that wont let the car start until it recognizes the key in the ignition, some things to check, first when you put the key in and turn the car to run (not start) does the theft light blink fast in the dash or is there a red on light on the dash that starts blinking? if so it is a PATS problem, the only ones I know of that can program keys are dealers, if the car wont turn over it probably is not a fuel pressure issue, the most common thing would be the PATS keys either unprogrammed or somthing wrong with the module. hope this helps
