Question about Toyota Corolla

3 Answers

I have a 2000 toyota corolla that we put a new motor in. we can get the car to turn over but wont stay running, tested the fuel injectors and fuel pressure, and have come to the conclusion that it has something to do with the after market key or the anti theft system. any ideas of how to reset the anti teft system, and do you think the after market key might have something to do with the problem?

Completely remove all aftermarket devices and ensure all circuits are correct, especially under the dash at the ignition switch.

My car do not start, only does the first injection. We tested the knock sensors, checked the coils, the ECM, the pressure injection valve, spark plugs, fuel equipment and filter. ALL THEY OK.
I think certainly that could be the KEY or the after market slsrm it has.
If I test these, what else could be?

Yes there is reset procedure:----If its a factory security system its disarmed by unlocking the drivers door with the key. -------------- If its aftermarket (may have been installed at dealership and sold as factory) then you need to look around in the drivers foot well area and locate the valet switch.

The after-market installed alarms have a valet switch to defeat the alarm from being armed on it's own. This switch is usually located on the left kickpanel depending on the installer. The kick panel is the panel next to the left foot, driver's side. -------First disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, wait for 2 minutes. Then before reconnecting the battery, turn the ignition switch on and flip the valet switch in the opposite direction. Then, reconnect the battery. If that doesn't work, redo the same procedure by flipping the valet switch position. If that still doesn't work, cycle the ignition key on and off a couple of times to see if that does anything.-------------But if that is not helping then, the key and alarm has to be reprogrammed by the dealer. In the car there is a computer. This computer is called ECM/ECU( electronic control unit or module) .If the ECM/ECU is not detecting the key or security system, then it will not let the car to start. And this has to be re-programmed by the dealer.----

This should help.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

WHAT WOULD CAUSE MY 98 TOYOTA COROLLA TO STOP WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT?

there is a problem with the injector circuit or pressure to the fuel manifold
because the pump is running doesn't mean that there is fuel pressure for the injectors
run the fault codes and have a pressure test done to check the fuel pressure regulator operation

We have a 2000 Toyota tocoma 4X4 V6 3400 it had a fuel injector #4 out we replaced it and put new plugs, wires and put it back together and it still runs rough

-Test all injector's resistant to find the problem before replace it.
-Possibly fuel pressure or bad spark plug line.

Good luck

I am having trouble getting my 1991 Toyota Corolla running. I have given it a tune up and put in a new battery. I had the Alternator and the starter tested, but it still won't start. The engine turns over...

check your injectors and spark plugs for damage or dirt would be a start then i would do a compression test on each cylinder to check for a cracked head gasket

2000 toyota celica-gets fuel to the fuel rail but wont stay running, will run with gas sprayed in intake

Check the injectore and see if they need replaced. but if not, you probably just need to put some "restor" in in for the compression.

2000 toyota corolla ve engine will run at idle but when you step on gas engine dies if you let off gas it stay running at idle got good fuel pressure good spark.i changed ecm changed fuel pump spark plugs...

Check the throttle cable to see if it's binding or catching on anything. If not, check the throttle body. If it's gummed up with carbon and not moving freely, you could be trying to add air that's simply not getting into the engine, while the computer throws a bunch of fuel in to match what it thinks it a ton of air.

Hope this helps.

88 toyota pickup v6 wont stay running

Early Toyota fuel injection use a cold start injector, it only works when the engine is cold. It is located in the intake manifold. for the mean time you can turn up your idle by turning a flat head screw in your intake manifold counter clock wise . It could be a coolant temp switch for the injector that has gone bad also.

clogged injectors you need to put cleaner in the fuel to help get dirt and grit out of them some times (every 3 months).
I am assuming you are saying it will turn over but not fire and run when cold?

when you crank the engine do you see fuel spraying from injectors .if you dont check for power at injector connectors one side should power and the other will be ground controlled from pcm.you can test with a 12 volt test for both. first test with test light grounded for power then test with test lead clip to battery to pos to the other wire from pcm while cranking engine light should flash.if it does turn key off again lean over tbi and have somone turn key on and listen for fuel circulating through tbi unit if you hear it without cranking engine replace fuel pressure regulator.
