The fuel pump is controlled by the fuel pump relay. The relay in engine compartment fuse box , under the hood.If that relay fails the fuel pump will not function properly. Also check if there is short in wires. If yes, then directly connect fuel pump to a 12 volt battery source and check, if its getting started. If it starts, that means the wirings are to be replaced. But if its not starting with 12 volt battery connected directly, then its faulty fuel pump.Get it replaced. The fuel pump relay is controlled by the ecm( the cars computer also called engine control module). If all the wires and relay checked out ok and still the problem, then its faulty ecm.It has to be replaced.----------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

No the fuel pump relay is not under dash fuse panel box.Its under hood fuse box.In the engine compartment. As you mentioned, in your second comment" tested old fuel pump with battery & it worked." this clears that most probably, relay is the issue. Its causing the problem. You will have to locate the relay and replace it.If it solves the problem. Then you can drive without replacing ECM.But if the problem is same with new relay too, then yes you can go for ecm.---------
The ECM (Electronic Control Module) is located under the radio. To get to it, you need to remove the center console. In some cases its just fitted bit out, in that case you don't need to remove the center console to get at the computer it just slides out the passenger side. The ECM is located behind the center console passenger kick trim:

See the fig below. The black and white sleek module box.Its ECM.

there is one bolt behind it ,hard to see,it right under heater box, loosen it up,undo the bolt for the harness then it should slide out.---------

The fuel pump relay is part of a relay pack called the constant control relay module, or CCRM.

For fuel pump relay location see fig below. Its marked yellow:---

Its located just under the air cleaner assembly on the left hand side of the engine compartment.
Its black or green in color and perfectly square with "Ford" written on it followed by a serial number.

    ---------

    This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Every time i try and start it i blow the fuel pump fuse and the starter is suckin a lot of juice out of the battery hooked up jumper cables and a battery charge all it does is pop and spark at negtive

The only thing on the 10amp fuel pump circuit should be the pump. So you could disconnect the harness at the gas tank to make sure it is the pump and not a wiring problem.
Have you had the battery tested ? Does the cables spark before you turn the key to crank ?

My 1999 Kia Sportage won't start. I checked the fuel pump while the key is on the ignition and I get the impression that it is not getting any juice. Fuel pump fuse is OK. Both cam and crank se

Well for starters, you need to diagnose the problem before replacing anymore parts. I say this because you mention both the fuel pump and sensors dealing with the ignition system which are 2 separate main things. Basically it takes 2 things to make an engine start, fuel and spark at the spark plugs. You need to narrow down what is missing because it seems since you replaced sensors dealing with spark and then you mention the other need fuel. I'm not sure as to where to start to help until whatever is missing is diagnosed and then find the cause of the loss. There are a couple of things you can check. Below is a picture of the relay box in the engine compartment. With the help of somebody put a finger touching both the fuel pump relay and the EGI main relay. While touching them have somebody turn the key to the "on" position (no need to try and start). When the key is turned on you should feel a "click" inside both of those relays. The fuel pump relay will click for about 3 seconds and the click again to shut off. The EGI main relay should stay on. If both seem to be fine you need to make sure of the fuel pump gettting "juice" and for power to the ignition system like the coils. You can get to the power/juice wire at the fuel pump pretty easy. You can access the connection at the fuel pump by lifting the lower part of the rear seat. Once the seat is lifted you should be able to see a part in the carpet that is cut to be able to lift the carpet up and access the plate covering the access to the fuel pump and/or the top of the fuel tank. Using a test light, check the green and yellow wires at the fuel pump. You should have power at those wire when turn the engine over or if the key is just turned to the on position you should have power there for about 3 seconds. To begin checking for spark or power to the ignition system you need to make sure you are getting power to the ignition coils. The red and white wires at the coils are your power wires. Check those. Also you can check the power at the fuel injectors. When the key is turned on or when trying to start, you should have power to the green wire at each of the fuel injectors. You should have constant power/juice at each of the fuel injectors. This is where I would start to narrow down the loss. Start here with these tests and let me know how the tests come out by replying/commenting here or you can email me directly at csautomotivecars@att.net ith what you have found out. Once the first tests are done and I know what the results are, we can go to the next step with a couple of other tests to figue the problem out. If one of the relays don't "click" then you have a possible bad relay. The EGI main relay is a common thing to go as well as the fuel pump relay. Don't mind helping and there is no cost to you for it but I don't want to tell you to start replacing parts until the problem is located. Hope this helps get you started.

95 ford mustang fuel delivery problem no power to pump

Check to see if fuel has stopped getting to the motor, also make sure the fuse hasn't blown again. Its possible to have gotten a bad pump. Also the injectors and a few other things are usually on the same circuit so if the fuse blows can be other items causing the issue like shorted wire to ground. I had and issue a ways back same as yours and the pump wasn't sending juice to the motor, fuse kept blowing and I swapped pumps (nothing). Then I got a wiring diagram of the system the fuse was blowing on and come to find out one of the wires to the injectors was shorting to the intake manifold due to chaffing 2 wires had rubbed the insulation off and were touching grounding out. Problem fixed with some electrical take and zip ties and no more fuses blown since.

Is there a fuel shut off on 2001 ford escape? car was rolled over.

The fuel pump shut-off switch is located in the front passenger's foot well, behind the kick panel. The reset button for the fuel pump shut-off switch is accessible through an opening in the kick panel.

zjlimited_867.jpg

Use the following procedure to reset the fuel pump shut-off switch.
1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Check the fuel system for leaks.
3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the fuel pump shut-off switch by pushing in, i.e. down on the reset button.
4. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Pause for a few seconds and return the key to the OFF position.
5. Make a further check for leaks in the fuel system.

Hope this helps.

I have a 1999 silverdao 1500 i have juice going to the fuel pump relay and no juice to the pump it wont start

The relay has power on 2 terminals not just one. the relay uses a smaller current to control a larger current...Apply 12 volts to the grey wire aka battery positive and see if the fuel pump will run. if it does ,Check all fuses. and check operation of the fuel ballance module.

Fuel pump

can I call you or you call me I can explain better
The ASD relay that supplies power to the uel pump only sullplies power to 2 seconds after you turn the key on then it truns off so you have to check for power immediately after you trun on the key you need two (2) people.

Fuel pump

I just replaced my fuel filter and check the pump along; I would replace the right wire harness so you don't want any sparks there b/c you might burn your engine since older vehicle tends to leak here & there so be very careful.
