If all your windows have stopped working the first thing to look at is the fuse. The fuse must be in the main fuse box. The position and function of the fuses is normally marked on the inside of the fuse box cover and also in the owner's handbook. If you don't come right with these, work your way through the fuses looking for a blown one. To ease your search the window fuse it should be around 30 amps.

What stops the window when it gets to the bottom on auto down?

Most window winders have a cog which when wound either by motor or manually, turn, opening and closing a scissor type mechanism, depending whether you're opening or closing the window.

The window stops when a "Stop" on this cog meets the scissor mechanism. the "Stop" can be as simple as one of the cogs teeth bent over.

Driver side window stops about two inches short of closing.it sounds fine but when it stops it makes no more sound

The motors on windows are designed to stop with pressure, kind of like a limit switch. When the stop short your window is in a bind. this is caused by the window regulator going bad. If you need help and want to replace it your self let me know and I will guide you threw it. Randy

Power windows only go down 2 inches then stop,

1ST TRY LUBRICATING THE WINDOW CHANNELS WITH SILICONE SPRAY, IF THAT DOESN'T WORK U WILL NEED NEW WINDOW REGULATORS.
