Question about 2007 Ford Freestar Limited Minivan

Open Question

There is a ringing noise when I'm driving my 2007 Ford Freestar. It's not related to acceleration or braking. Sounds like it's from the back of the van. Any ideas?

SOURCE: changed caliper on 2005 ford freestar and now brakes are spongie.

When bleading the brakes have someone there watching to make sure the master cylinder never runs out of brake fluid or all of your time spent bleading them will be waisted.

SOURCE: have a 2007 freestar thats has a popping noise out

its your mass air flow sensor. the air filter housing does not seal well, wich causes dirt and turbulance to (MASF). So your vehicle will begin to run richer, making a popping noise. then the vehicle will start to jump while driving or even stall.

SOURCE: 2004 ford freestar 4.2L engine...high pitched

this sounds odd but mine did this when i replaced the wipers. it seems the design of the wiper frame was making a whistle at higher speeds. the freestar wipers are exposed on the window cowl and not hidden so they endure the winds at high speed. it is worth a shot.

SOURCE: the engine seems to be making a sputtering noise

Amelia, we just bought one off a lease 5 weeks ago (purchased from a dealer). We are having the same symptoms, suddenly, as you describe.

Took it back to the dealership. After a bit of drama, they agreed to foot the repair bill ($1000). It was a broken distributer cap and wiring which should have been replaced before it was resold to us. What a pain.

It really sounds like you have a front wheel bearing that has gone out. This would make the anti-lock system fail so you would have a brake light indicator on.

sounds like it may be nothing more than a lose belt. have a mechanic check the belt tension. You can check the tension yourself by pressing down on each belt with the engine off. If the belt moves more than an inch or so it should be tightened. Only other explanation would be a transmission slip.

hhmm... I hate trying to diagnose brake issues online,,, there are so many variables.. you installed new pads and rotors...and the noise is constant now... (Wished you lived near me)... sounds like you may have pushed too much brake fluid back out of the master cyl. reservoir...bleeding ABS brakes is harder than regular brakes,,
... Bleeding ABS Brake Systems
after reading this.. take a look at your system,,, see if anything relates and you can fix it,, please reply to me on here.. thanks

This problem is caused by worn CV joints on the front outer drive axles.

When i first start my 2006 ford freestar, there is a scaping noise when i apply my brakes. This does not happen every time i apply brakes. After about 10 minutes of driving this stops. What's going on?

You obviously have to get the wheels off &
look over the brakes, to eliminate them

We can't do that for you over the internet

Get involved then ask a question
