Question about 1999 Jeep Cherokee
I had the same problem on a 1997 grand cherokee. the self diagnostics tripped a trouble code of 15 no signal on speed sensor. I changed out the speed sensor on the rear tailshaft of the transmission and the transmission shifted but the code was still there after it had been reset with a code reader. Today I found out there is another speed sensor on the middle of the transmission that looks like a spark plug with a wiring harness hooked to it. I changed this sensor and the transmission shifts a lot quicker and smoother, but I have to go to the autoshop to see if this erases the code.

I work in a transmission and torque converter remanufacturing plant and have seen this many times! I hate to tell you that your transmission is shot! There is metal in the fluid and some of it got caught in a solenoid not letting fluid through to shift the gears. You will need a rebuild! About $2500 dollars. Of course if you in Pittsburgh, Pa. area I could do it for about half that. Any questions e-mail me at email@example.com
