Question about 2002 Buick Century

Open Question

2002 Buick Century - AC does not work in Max setting. Works fine in Blend setting, compressor comes on and runs cold. But in standard AC mode, on Max setting with AC button on, does not sound like compresor is coming on and not getting cold. Could this be a fuse? Or ideas? I do occassionally (maybe once or twice a month) hear a clicking noise under the hood after I turn off the engine and exit the car, which sounds like a possible fan going bad, and also get some occassional rattling sound from under the dash while driving, near the steering wheel. Not sure if related at all.

SOURCE: high pitched sound just started. It goes REEEEEE!!

It sounds like your power steering pump as you said, but I would start with changing the main drive belt. I have come across this same problem before. If you change out the belt and you still have this problem, remove the belt and start the engine. Turn the wheels left and right and listen for the noise. If the noise is gone then put the belt back on and check again. If the noise comes back then you have a component problem. I have seen the belt tensioner to make noises as you describe. I hope this helps you. Let me know if this is helpful to you.

SOURCE: Air Ride on 1994 Buick Park Avenue

You can unplug it right at the pump...the only problem is that the rear end is going ride low and you will notice a steering power, and some bottoming out in the rear. The best thing to do is see if that shocks themself might be leaking and replace them if they are since eventually this will damage the pump. Sometimes it will just blow the fuse, which brings me to my next point...you could just pull the fuse in the fuse box to shut it off.

look like the program is not working. if the set temp, is lower than the real temp, heather should come on.
if the set temp is higher than the ambient temp. the ACC should come on.
I will try one first, then setup the other.

1995 Buick Century blowing hot air.

A mechanic would check the system with a set of pressure gauges. If the compressor is running, the low side would read around 30psi and the high side would be around 250psi. That is how you know if the system is full of freon or not.
You may have to get a professional diagnosis to proceed. If you replace the compressor, the accumulator needs to be replaced and a vac pump is used to pull all of the air out before the freon is added.

Usually a sign of a faulty blend door under the dash. You should have someone check the blend doors to see if they are working correctly.

Compressor keeps kicking off 1999 Buick Century AC

Your ac system is most likely low on freon, or the cooling fan is not working.
When you turn on the ac the cooling fan should stay on.
If it stays on then you are low on freon.

Hi. There seems to be a blockage within the system. I will list all parts to be checked by your mechanical. I would also have the blend door linkages or servos inspected for fail points along with the listed areas of concern, below:

Loose or broken drive belt
Inoperative compressor or slipping compressor clutch
Defective expansion valve
Clogged expansion valve, receiver-drier or liquid refrigerant line
Blown fuse
Leaking component: any of the parts listed above or one of the A/C lines, hoses or seals.

Instruct your mechanic to check all the above, along with the dash blend door linkages for faults.
