Question about Hyundai Motor 2003 Elantra

1 Answer

I HAVE A 2003 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GLS SEDAN. WE HAD THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER REPLACED. EVER SINCE THEN I AM EXPERIENCING FRONT BRAKES OVERHEATING. WE REPLACED FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS AND BRAKE PADS. RECENTLY HAD CV BOOT REPLACED. WHEN THE CAR IS COOL BRAKES ARE SMOOTH WITH PLAY IN THEM. ONCE YOU DRIVE THE CAR AND USE BRAKES THE PETAL STARTS TO GET FIRMER AND EVENTUALLY THE BRAKES SMOKE AND SIEZE UP.THIS ONLY OCCURS IN WARMER WEATHER. WHEN IT IS COLD OR RAINY THE BRAKES ARE COOLED OFF QUICKER. THE PROBLEM MAINLY SEEMS TO COME FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE... WHAT IN THE WORLD COULD MAKE THIS HAPPEN?

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If I we're you, I'll replace the hydrovac itself. It may be worn out that's why this issues occur. Two things that can result by a faulty hydrovac, brakes can be sticky then overheats or it won't brake at all.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

How do you fix sponge brakes on 2009 Hyundai Accent GLS 1.6 liter?

You've obviously still got air in the lines. If you can't remove it, take it to a shop for a pressure bleed.

if this has anti-lock brakes it may be the HCU(hydraulic control unit) may have air in it. it may have to be activated to get all the air out.

Why are my brakes locking up on a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe after replacing the master cylinder and brake booster

If your 2003 Santa Fe includes a four wheel anti-lock brake system the brakes should never, ABSOLUTELY NEVER, lock up.

There is a recall on the 3.5 liter 4wd model concerning the ABS.
ID Number Search Results Recalls do not expire, so make sure yours is safe.

Beyond that, one would need more information to diagnose the failure.

  1. Always include the model details (engine, transmission, model designation [GL, GLS, Limited, etc] and drive sysem [fwd,rwd,awd,4wd]) to allow someone to better answer you question.
  2. Describe when the problem occurs. Does it always, sometimes, or intermittently occur?
  3. Is it reproducible? Does it happen only at a specific speed? (over 35, over 50, fast, slow, forward, reverse, turning right, turning left, while you're on the phone)

Why my front brakes are overheating after I replaced/serviced the rear brakes pads ?

Coincidence. Check brake fluid and master cylinder. Check front calipers for failure, possible deployment and pressing the pads against rotors.

Clutch Sometimes Slipping in 4th and 5th gears!

Hi Jackiaria

Unfortunately you have a hydraulic clutch, which is self adjusting on your car.

The problem you are experiencing is the excessive wear to your clutch, or oil contamination on the clutch plate.

Both these problems can only be fully diagnosed once the gearbox is removed and the clutch is inspected.
There is also a possibility of excessive wear, or scoring, on the flywheel surface, the longer you drive the vehicle with a slipping clutch, possibly requiring the flywheel to be skimmed.

Shop around for a best price, and a trustworthy garage !

Good Luck !

A FixYa rating would be Nice....Thanks.....John.
