Crawl under, and take a look at the starter. If you see that the wire is burnt, especially on the exhaust manifold, you've found your problem. If not, run your way up to the battery, and up to the key switch.

My Bravada will not start and keeps blowing the crank fuse. Does anyone know what I need to do to solve this problem?

Find the starter relay, pull it. try to start the engine. if the fuse doesn't blow , replace the relay. If it still blows there is a short in the wire from the fuse to the relay. Check directly under the relay. this is where wires tend to break first.

This means theres a dead short somewhere, so the systems it runs have a short you will need to remove power from each one until the short stops. take a look around for wires touching ground, the raido woundnt be the problem it has its on fuse and so does the horn, remove the starter wire, the small wire to starter and leave the big battery cable going to starter and then try to start it, i know it wont start but this will tell you if its the starter thats shorting out, if that doiesnt do it then continue remove connections until you locate it, also repair the wire and then turn the key on and see if it blows the fuselink if it doesnt then you know its the starter, but then crank and see if it blows to make sure, if it only blows when you crank it then its the starter, if it blows as soon as the key is turn on then its something else. hope this is helpful, good luck.

Sounds like there's a grounded wire somewhere between the ignition switch and the solenoid. When you bypass the switch with the screwdriver you don't ground out the line, but with the switch the ground shorts the circuit, blows the fuse, and then won't start the engine.

94 chevy s10 blowing fuse

Chances are, you have a short somewhere in the wiring that is causing too much amperage to pass through the fuse causing it to blow. Use a decent voltmeter that will show opens and shorts to test continuity with the wires that run to the ignition.

Main Fuel Pump

Fuses mean short somewhere.Fuse is always live it feeds relay but in tank pump [ fuse#4or#6 i forget anyway visa versa ] is not live until this.Relay clicks once when key tuned to on and once more when key turned to crank engine it is under dash by glove box and loud enough for someone with ear at this spot to hear.In tank pump should not be live until engine starts to crank.
