I'am trying to change my front pads on my 92 taurus. but i could not figure out how to get the caliper off to put the new pads on. could you tell me what to do?

You need a socket with an allen/hex bit. Not sure about the size of the hex bit you will have to figure that out yourself. There are 2 scews holding the on calipers.

Heres what they look like:

They are on the back of the caliper toward the engine, find the proper size hex socket. They sale a set of the sockets at Autozone for around $10, 3/8 inch drive. Thats the best way to go.

Heres what you need:

What tool is needed to remove the caliper, a hex key or something else?

For front brake pads replacement you need only usually wrench set, inclusive 7 mm allen key also. But for rear brake pads replacement you need obligatory a special caliper piston pressing tool, in order to press back rear caliper piston with parking brake automatic adjustment!!!
For front brake pads. First you must verify yours front brake disc diameter: 280 mm or 288 mm. After that you can buy the brake pads (with wear sensor). For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow:
1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose!
2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper.
3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease).
4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier.
5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston.
6. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservoir, and emptying if neccessary!
7. Push piston back into brake caliper housing.
8. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward).
9. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier.
10. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm.
11. Install both caps.
12. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!!
Check brake fluid level and top up if neccessary!!!

What is the process for replacing bothmy front brake calipers?

Hello rcvez
Without a model and year I can only give you a general description on how to change chevy calipers.
Jack up the left front and put a stand under it, then remove the wheel. Turn the wheel all the way to the right
On the back of the caliper you'll see 2 female hex bolts(allen head) the size should be 5/16 or 3/8, use a
male hex socket or an allen wrench to remove the bolts, if you use an allen wrench you may have to give
it a couple of wacks with a hammer to loosen them up. Now use a pry bar work the top and bottom of the
caliper and walk it off the roter, set the caliper aside so not to strech the hose. Next, put the new pads in
the new caliper and bolt it up to the bracket, remove the hose from the old caliper and bolt it to the new
caliper, be sure the bolt is clean and use the new copper washer that came with the caliper. Now repeat
this on the right side, bleed the brakes and thats it. Hope this is helpful.

What tool do I use to remove the calipers to replace disc pads?

I believe it uses a "hex head". You can buy a set of them from most auto parts stores, Sorry I don't remember the size right off hand.

How do I remove front brake caliper on 1996 mazda 626

if you are just changing the pads there are 2 bolts that split the caliper in halve and allow you to change the pads thres two bolts are located top and bottom on the backside of the caliper and require an allen wrench for removal to remove the whole caliper there are 2 bolts on the back side closer to the center top and bottom that require a 17mm socket remove these 2 bolts clamp off the flex brake hose with a clamp and remove from caliper and work up and down until caliper comes away from disc

What size allen wrench to remove front brake caliper

i just changed my front rotors and pads on my 2001 escape, 6 cylinder. everyone was wrong on the wrench sizes, including the idiots at my local ford dealer. to get the brake calipers off I needed a 7mm hex bit. to get the caliper bracket off I needed an 18mm socket, it was a very easy job but check your wrench sizes first, it seems that every year and model uses different sizes.

How do i replace the front rotors of a 1993 Sonoma?

You have to remove the wheels and the brake calipers and then the rotors. You will need and 3/8 allen socket to remove the bolts that hold the caliper to the spindle. You also need to pry the brake pads back slightly to relieve the pressure from the pad to the rotor. This will make it easier to remove the caliper over the rust ridge of the rotor. Get a book to show you how.You can find them at the library or there are some good how to videos on line.Just google how to replace rotors.Afer you have replaced the rotors and reinstalled the calipers make sure and pump the brake pedal before driving the vehicle.Because the pedal will go to the floor the first few pumps.Pump it up til it feels hard before driving it.Hope this helps.Good luck.
