Question about 2003 Kia Rio

1 Answer

My check engine light in my 2003 Kia Rio keeps coming on. So far, my mechanic has pulled codes for and repaired the following. A flex hose pipe, the 02 sensor, pin holes in the exhaust, the gas tank and the purge solenoid. I am trying to get the vehicle inspected, but we can't seem to find the problem. The code that keeps coming up is an evac or exhaust leak. Yesterday, after replacing the purge solenoid, I didn't even get it home, about 10 miles away, and the light came back on. Any tips or ideas of where to go next?

1st of all did your gas mileage drop? If It's an O2 sensor your gas mileage will be about half. If the car is running normally but you can't get the check engine Light off, It may be Simple. Most cars these days have an Oil Life Sensor that needs to be reset after Oil Changes. Turn your Key On , But Do not START. Pump your Accelerator to the Floor 3 Times In 10 Seconds and turn the key off. Start It up Again And See if that was it.

Hi my kia rio 2003 suddenly started to make a noise from engine

The abs light means your anti-lock brake system has detected a fault and probably isn't working. Your check engine light probably came on at the same time. Get a mechanic or someone with a car computer code reader to connect to the diagnostic port under the dash and read off the error codes to diagnose your problem better.

My 2003 Kia Rio has almost 200,000 miles on it... 4 months ago I drove it over 2,000 miles with no problems. Before leaving, I took it in to my mechanic to have them change the oil and oil filter, and just generally check it over... fluid levels, brakes, tires ~ basic stuff.
Good luck!

2006 kia rio check engine light on and code P0455

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes2.gif, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum2.gif

check the fuel line hose near the fuel regulator for wear as they tend to leak or corrode causing a gas smell inside the car. My 2000 Kia Sportage just had the same problem with the gas smell inside the car.
