Question about 2006 Toyota Tacoma

1 Answer

I have a 2006 toyota tacoma, FWD, SBDC with the towing package. The truck has been sitting in my garage for about 4 hours and when I just went outside, I heard what seemed to me a small motor running. Almost like when the cooling fan is going after the car turns off. I narrowed it down to what looks like a small box underneath the truck, in between the gas tank and the bed. Any clue what this noise would've been and is it concerning? When I started the truck and stopped it again, the noise was gone. I did not feel any vibrations of any kind when I was feeling around.

If you have air suspension on the rear axle then that could be an air pump which is restoring pressure to the reservoir. Normally this would not take very long so it is possible that you may have a leak or loose connection in the air suspension lines.

Where is iat sensor on 2006 toyota tacoma 4.ol 4door located ?

This is the 2001-2012 Toyota Tacoma wiring diagram, Toyota Tacoma IAT (Intake Air Temperature) Sensor Location and the Toyota Tacoma MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor Location, also included is a pinout of the sensor. You are likely installing a performance chip or a cold air intake kit for increased HP (Horsepower). You will want to be sure to disconnect the car battery before adding performance products.

Here is the Toyota Tacoma's Iat sensor diagram:

I have a 2002 toyota tacoma which had no previous starting issues, just didn't start one day. all electric comes on but no 'click' when key is turned, unable to pop the clutch to start. Had it towed to...

Explain further about "popping the clutch"
Do you mean you had the key on and it still wouldn't start when you tried to push-start it?
Possible buggy ignition switch is my first guess...

Did we pay thousands to replace an ABS Actuator that was not broken? Did our 3rd party towing package failing, cause the ABS lights to come on?

Sorry you went through this, but thank you for posting. I had a similar problem with my wife's 2008 Highlander with under 30k miles last week. They wanted to change the ABS Actuator for over $3,000. Ends up disconnecting the leads between the ABS and the towing package (that we have never used since we bought the car 6 months old) resolved the problem. Was after hours of trouble shooting, including changing out an ABS sensor and then putting the old one back on after that didn't resolve it. So, still cost about $300 in labor for something that should have been only an hour of labor, but at least it didn't cost $3,000+.

FYI, the symptoms were as follows: at about 10MPH left front brake would pulsate and traction control light would come on. Turning off traction control system didn't stop it (after all, it was the ABS misfiring causing the problem).

One thing I don't know, what lasting issue can we have if the ABS lead from the tow package is disconnected? Since we haven't used the package, I'm not sure about replacing the electrical components of it, but I'd like to at least know the effects of leaving it as is (especially so I can give the next owner a heads-up).
