SOURCE: Speedometer is showing wrong speed

does it have a large sensor on the back of the trans for the speedo. If the sensor is about the size of the bottom of a pop car remove it and see if the gear is apple cored. If it is you have to go to a dealer and they will ask you what colour it is

Hello: The cluster failure on 2003 thru 2005 is very high. The proper way to repair is to replace the cluster, then mileage and engine hours(if equipped) has to be reset Then the cluster has to be programmed. I have a 2003 Silverado w/17000 miles that my wife bought for me new and it has had 5 clusters. (I' a retired GM cadillac technician)
