you drove from a warm climate to a cold one in a short period of time, compared to climate change which is gradual usually. My guess is that the last time you gassed up the car it was still warm there. When you change temperature quickly like that, condensation forms, and you get moisture in the tank and the fuel filter. When you reached you destination, and **** the car off, it was cold, and somewhere in the gas line it froze. Try changing the fuel filter, and ad a can of heat.
this should dry up the moisture, and solve your problem....

The 52 trouble code indicates a long term memory loss of the ECM (for example a replaced battery one day). It doesn't show on third pass (after the third -1.8.8) so it's intermittent and not a problem when you read it out.
I would advise you to clear the trouble codes (by pressing the off and high buttons on your climate controll while in diagnostic mode). To go in diagnostic mode just press off and warmer buttons on the climate controll as you probably also used to read out the diagnostic codes.
If this codes reoccurs there is a problem in the power supply to your ECM which will make it forget the correct settings. Result is it has to find correct settings for idle everytime and you will lack power as it has to find out how much gas can be injected at different RPM's. This happend to me when my battery was dying on me last winter. Replacing the battery (I couldn't start anymore) fixed this problem for me. If your battery is ok I would expect a bad wire somewhere.

it sounds like the problem started with the brake shift iterlock switch by forcing it he now broke the trans shift cable mech at the column

this has happened to many northstar engines and no suits have been filed and won so far as I know. If you are a regular Cadillac customer that has purchased 2 or more Cadillac's in the past decade I would call the 800 number as shown in the owners manual and file a complaint. The loader you are the better for you. They do take care of their customers in all cases I have heard and seen quite a few in my years at the dealership I worked at
