If Pcv valve is not working correctly car will run real bad starving for air. And check engine lite will come on. I would add one liter of Locus oil stabalizer and drive it, Sounds like it's about time for a overhaul. best of luck to you.

My 2008 chevy avalanche is burning 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles

How many miles on your vehicle ? Do you see any leak spots on the ground from the truck ? Blue exhaust , oil burning , valve guide seals , piston rings , PCV clogged .

Oil Consumption Diagnosis
Checks
Causes
Excessive oil consumption, not due to leaks, is the use of 1 L (1 qt) or more of engine oil within 3 200 kilometers (2,000 miles).
Preliminary
The causes of excessive oil consumption may include the following conditions:
• External oil leaks
Refer to Oil Leak Diagnosis .
• Incorrect oil level or improper reading of the oil level indicator
With the vehicle on a level surface, run the engine for a few minutes, allow adequate drain down time, 2-3 minutes, and measure for the correct engine oil level.
• Improper oil viscosity
Refer to the vehicle owners manual and use the recommended SAE grade and viscosity for the prevailing temperatures.
• Continuous high speed driving and/or severe usage
• Crankcase ventilation system restrictions or malfunctioning components
Refer to Crankcase Ventilation System Inspection/Diagnosis .
• Worn valve guides and/or valve stems
• Worn or improperly installed valve stem oil seals
Refer to Spark Plug Inspection .
• Piston rings broken, worn, or not seated properly
Allow adequate time for the rings to seat.
Replace worn piston rings, as necessary.
Refer to Cylinder Leakage Test .
• Piston and rings improperly installed or not fitted to the cylinder bore
Refer to Lower Engine Noise, Regardless of Engine Speed

Oil backing up through the hole where the old dipstick goes. some kind of pressure problem

all engines burn oil, ALL!
and if you dive faster, it burns more. (rate)
you did not state the rate, here in USA we do
quarts per mile (liters are same )
1 qt/ 3000 miles is norm.
but if you dont service a vehicle , for sure every 60miles.
100km. the PCV valve will clog and the crankcase will go over
pressure, and the car will leak and burn more oil.
the dip stick hole must **** not blow.
if it dont **** , running, the PCV is DEAD !
(1960 to present same deal)

1998 Chevy Malibu is using excessive oil. Had an oil change done back in October 2012 . Then checked Oil level in December of 2012 and was about 3/4 low in oil! why ?

first thing check make sure oil pan drain plug tight. check make sure oil filter tight. try tighten oil filter by hand see if turn tighten oil filter clockwise direcction if all is good. how many miles on vechicle.could have oil leaks park vechicle in spot that clean.move vechicle see if you see oil spots on ground if yes.your front timing cover seal leaking oil or rear main oil seal ;eaking.or valve cover gaskets leaking.if find no oil leaks more likely engine burning oil.replace pcv valve.check air filter if you see oil in air filter housing either have bad pcv valve or pcv not getting vacuum make sure pcv valve getting vacuum when engine running vacuum should be felt at pcv if not pcv valve bad or pcv hose disconnected broken or plugged.if pcv valve okay engine has worn piston rings.worn valve seals or guides or oil return holes stopped up thats all possible reasons for engine burning oil.if spark plugs oil fouled engine burning oil.

My car is using a lot of oil. Adding 1 quart every 3 to 4 hundred miles. Can not find any leaks under the car or around valve cover. Does not smoke. Any idea?

All I can tell you is that it is either leaking it or burning it. You need to find out which. It may be drawing into the intake through the PCV system. Check your PCV valve.

check the pcv valve, it will **** up oil and burn it if bad, and also check the hose to pcv valve. depending on vehicle the price for a pcv valve is very reasonable. pull out pcv valve and shake it ! if it rattles its ok. but if not replace it. have a good day !! ( positive crankcase ventilation ).

Burning 1 qt oil 2007 grand caravan sxt per 1000 miles. changed pcv vale still happenung

Is it really burning it, or just losing it? If you have blue smoke coming out your tail pipe, and oily black spark plugs, there's really not a whole lot you can do about it short of a rebuild of your engine. It really sounds like a rear main seal leak, or a faulty oil filter.

have you checked the pcv valve ( positive crankcase ventilation ). plugged pvc symtoms-- can contribute to sludging of engine. it will build up pressure in crankcase if plugged. the pressure can blow out seals, it can also force oil past oil rings and burn oil up in engine. shake pcv valve, if it rattles its ok. if all else fails check oil pan gasket and filter also. ive seen holes in oil filters or they are loose. and upon driving, pressure is put on oil and it blows out.

these cars dont really burn oil, but can. i would have the car put up on a lift and take a good look, i know they leak at the valve covers and the head gaskets ,i've done alot of them, if you are sure it not leaking then have the pcv system checked you may want to replace the pcv valve if its been a while, this valve sucks the preasure out of the oil crankcase and burns through the motor, if this valve sticks it will allow preasure build up and force oil into the combustion chamber and cause oil useage, hope this helps.

2007 Chevy Avalanche burns oil.

IF ENGINE IS FRESH,NOT BEEN BEAT ON AND YOU KNOW THE HISTORY TRY THE PCV VALVE AND HOSE. PCV MAY BE RECIRCULATING THROUGH INDUCTION AND BURNING YOUR OIL. THIS IS ASSUMING PISTON RINGS ARE GOOD AND YOU ARE USING THE RIGHT OIL. SEE IF AIR FILTER IS DIRTY,IF SO REPLACE IT AND NOT WITH A K&N IT DAMAGES MASS AIR SENSORS AND FUEL MILEAGE WILL GO BYE BYE AND POSSIBLY DRIVEABILITY ISSUES. MARK DIP STICK AND TRY THESE FIRST. QUICK CHECK PULL OFF INDUCTION TUBE,OPEN THROTTLE BODY AND JUST LOOK IN FOR OIL IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD.
